Beto O'Rourke is one loyal son of a gun ... and a great tipper according to his barber who says they go back almost a decade. Beto's barber, Manuel Corral, tells TMZ ... he's been cutting Beto's hair for 7 years at his joint Chema's Barber Shop in El Paso, Texas. Manuel, who doesn't speak English, says Beto's haircut costs a modest $12 but Beto leaves a $25 tip every time.
Beto pulled up to Chema's earlier this week and livestreamed his haircut after spending several days on the campaign trail.
Back in January, he livestreamed going to the dentist. At the time, he hadn't announced his candidacy yet and this haircut episode comes on the heels of a media blitz as he tries to inject life back into a campaign that's lost major steam as of late.
Manuel says he stands firmly behind Beto, whose kids also get their haircuts at Chema's. When Beto shows up once a month, they converse in Spanish and talk U.S. and Mexican politics. Should Beto land in the White House ... Manuel says he's down to make the trek to D.C. and continue cutting his hair.

(34,195 posts)There are whole communitues where people have been here many years and do not speak English.
Did you know that many DMVs offer the the DMV written test in multiple languages.
The California DMV, for exam, lets you take the test if 32 different languages!
Massachusetts lets you take it in 25; even Kentucky supports up to 23 languages for the test.

Yes, I can understand the native peoples holding onto their languages. One hopes they always do. What a shame if they were to die out with the elders.

(185 posts)thanks for posting. It's nice that even though you don't seem to be a Beto supporter, you still posted a positive story about him. It is nice to see since lately it seems as if media and social media have been trying to ratchet up dissension between various supporter groups.
