The young man who accused Mayor Pete Buttigieg of sexually assaulting him fully recanted the accusations on Tuesday, saying he was tricked, enticed and even intimidated into doing so by two of the most notorious smear merchants in politics.
In a new post on Facebook, Hunter Kelly recounted how a Medium post under his name, in which he said that he had been raped by Buttigieg, was written without his input and posted without his permission by Jacob Wohl.
Wohl is an infamous conservative provocateur who is known mainly for the inanity of the schemes he concocts. But the one he crafted with Kelly may have been the most absurd to datea bizarre Coen Brothers-like plan that fizzled out right as it took off.
For a week, Wohl had been attempting to find gay Republicans who would levy accusations against Buttigieg, according to at least one Republican who was on the receiving end of the pitch and recorded parts of it for The Daily Beast.

(5,969 posts)With that second case, now, I'd bet that those "victims" were in on it but to protect themselves from possible consequences, they make up stories about being tricked or that they didn't know what would be made public in their name. That makes no sense, of course, as neither persons had anything to do with those who were accused. Pretty disgusting.

It's insane to think they tried the same thing again. The only thing I can think of is that maybe they added another phase to this, and the next part will be the guy will come out and say he was originally telling the truth until he was coerced by someone to retract.
I hope that's not the case, but even if it is, I'm sure these two idiots will make some mistakes that make it obvious what they are doing.

(37,648 posts)he said he'd been invited and convinced to participate in working against Mayor Pete. He went to a meeting, there were discussions, etc. etc. But what I read said that this false accusation trick was never mentioned, and that he would never participate in something like that.
I don't have a link. But that is the gist of what I remember reading a day or so again in something posted here on DU.

Is Hunter Kelly a public person? I heard he had signed the draft phony accusation, then recanted.

(5,969 posts)That is a mischaracterization of the gravity of his deeds. He isn't trolling or pranking. They try to discredit people with allegations of serious crimes with the full knowledge that all of it is made up. I have no knowledge about the law but I don't understand how these kind of things don't get you into trouble.
