the steps to disable the update to Win10 before it as a chance to do it as a nasty surprise. Most places are already selling 10s, or the equally lame win 8.

but i do keep an xp pro box or 2 around and would like a w7 box

could you echo the steps to lock down against updates?

like i said most of what i run is linux, bsd, or even....dos and os/2 --- ecommerce

tried vista, hated it (dunno why i hated it when i am 'ok' with 7)
tried 7 ...not to bad at all
tried 8 LOATHED it
tried 10, walked away in disgust

and the weird part is most computer 'literate' / tech industry people i know like xp pro/ 7 pro but hate 8-10

If you're coming in now, after they've switched over to a more aggressive update, I think there are more steps involved. Afk, looking....

Ah, here we go. The OP is http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027583839

and comments 32 and 94 talk about steps to take to first block off the update, but then also undo some changes microsoft apparently made to win 7 and win 8 as well.
