Sanders on Trump: 'We Have More Things to Worry About Than Bill Clinton's Sexual Life'

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders slammed Republican front-runner Donald Trump for his attacks on Bill Clinton and what he deemed his false campaign rhetoric, suggesting Trump turn his attention to real issues facing the American people, like climate change and the minimum wage.

"We have more things to worry about than Bill Clinton's sexual life," Sanders said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

Sanders also stood by his previous statement that Trump is a "pathological liar."

a sense, by imparting responsible mercy to th former scandals of the Clintons, he raises his own position. It also makes it more difficult, perhaps to problems he may have, for the Clintons to wind up the attack machine against him.

mystified by Democrats who don't fight back appropriately or who lack smart campaign-strategy skills.

Sanders is not afraid to fight back when needed, and I've been impressed with his smart approach to campaigning. He's skilled at framing narratives, often forcing the Clinton camp on the defensive with their hollow, snarky talking points that made them look desperate and small.

One example--Clinton's strategy during the debate was to ignore her Democratic opponents and fight Trump. This was designed to minimize Sanders/MOM and position her as the Dem nominee. Clinton continued the fight with Trump post-debate.

Sanders then responded by attacking Trump as well, but he one upped Hillary by saying that he was going after Trump's supporters who were disaffected and concerned about eroding wages and the disappearance of the middle class. In effect, Sanders made The Clinton/Trump post-debate public fights look small.

Sanders made himself look presidential, while underscoring his cross-over appeal and Clinton's lack of cross-over appeal.

The Clinton-team response/talking point was disseminated repeatedly (including on DU): Sanders is going after Trump's racist followers! Seriously...LOL!

Sanders elevated himself; and of course the Clinton camp knee-jerked with lies that made them look bad. It's not that difficult to outwit the Clinton camp, because they always, always respond with snipey lies and ham-handed attacks that make them look unappealing.

Seriously. Sanders know how to play the game. I think his smart approach will continue to cause immense frustration in the Clinton camp. They'll have to go after him in Iowa and NH, and theyll end up damaging their own brand.

the other. He's taken the entire political ( and others) to the proverbial woodshed and has become the Elder Statesman.

I am believing he will win, but if not Bernie, someone else will arise to take on Big Money and Big (fill in the blank). We don't do pitchforks here...police shoot to kill. And, we the people, are mostly civilized...with exceptions in the Beltway/Oligarchy. It is appropriate to be angry, especially for economic classism...Me rich, you Poor...sucks to be you.
