Labor is the driver of wealth. Nobody is getting a hand out (well, except for the wealthy extracting all they can from the labor class), and if you think that, then you are living in a bubble.

Those that deserve and get disability are the larger fraction. Conservative talking points would lead one to believe that it is the other way around. By the way, the best way to get the system milkers off of their asses is to provide them the opportunity to have a well paid job and an honest shot at the American Dream.

Something that our friends who write the Conservative talking points fail to mention is corporate welfare. Corporate welfare is exponentially larger than the meager amounts of our taxes that have been placed into the disability system. In the game of Monopoly, the 'haves' can cry all they want about the 'have lesser' types but it is the 'have more' types that are eating everyone's lunch! Don't take my word for it, Google can be your friend, look up which portion of your dollar goes out to disability, which portion to corporate welfare.

America is made weak or strong depending upon our economy and that variable has the co-variable of spending. The more $ spent by the citizenry the better the economy, the less spent the weaker. Even those who milk the disability system spend their money here. The same can not be said for the corporate welfare artists. Their money, OUR TAX $, gets placed in offshore tax havens.

Have you ever heard of one of Ronald Regan's so called "Welfare Queen's" purchasing one of our politicians so 'she' can stay on welfare? Of course not! Would you truly be surprised to learn that a small portion of corporate welfare $ is used to purchase OUR politicians? Yep, your tax dollars used by corporate welfare artists are undermining our very democracy!

So maybe it might be more prudent to complain about the folks who are really screwing over this country, it is not the poor, it's surely not the disabled and contrary to what FOX News claims, it is not even that tiny fraction of a percentile that just don't feel like working but prefer to sit home and milk the disability system for a meager monthly paycheck.

With fewer and fewer people making more and more stuff, how does stuff get bought unless you give the people pushed out of making stuff money? Which accounts for our extremely weak recovery.

The majority of the population does work. There are some that only live on the work of others.

That is the class of people socialism would rid us of.

Democratic Socialism is not Communism.
Democratic Socialism is a mixed economy. I lived in Germany, Austria, France and Great Britain years ago.. They are all mixed economies. They are not Communist. They are our NATO allies.

have more millionaires per capita than the US. They also have more business start-ups per capita. In other words Sweden, et al. in Scandinavia, have the best of social programs (socialism) and the best of capitalism. Why?
Because they care for their people. The system is adjusted to bring everybody in and leave nobody outside on the streets begging. They have pretty much realized what Harry Truman said he wanted: a country where everybody who wants a job can find one. That should have been our aim all along. It should be our aim now, and if Bernie gets his way it will be.

Democratic Socialism is not at all like Communism. It is a mixture of capitalism and government funding for social programs that insure a high degree of security and stability in the economy and in the society. It increased the freedom of the individual. It does not decrease that freedom. Taxes may be higher than ours for some people, but the government provides services in return. The governments that have democratic socialism don't JUST mostly buy weapons with the tax revenue. Our government does spend an inordinate percentage of our tax revenue on weapons and military purposes.

Because the "work" many folks are doing now just enhances the effects of climate change. The only work that is enabling for them is the scurrying from one hot rock to another.

I think growth is great as long as it doesn't lower the long term standard of living. Sadly, there is little growth, today, that doesn't.

We need growth, desperately. But growth for the sake of growth dooms us all.

Was also not happy with his implication that Sanders had a "Cold War" mentally, or pretending he is so much younger than Sanders. I doubt millenials see a lot of difference between Sanders and O'Malleys age.
