An analysis of network television news coverage reveals what supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders have long suspected; the three broadcast television networks are intentionally ignoring the Sanders campaign.
Eric Boehlert of Media Matters has the revealing details:
So in terms of stand-alone campaign stories this year, its been 234 minutes for Trump, compared to 10 minutes for Sanders. And at ABC World News Tonight, its been 81 minutes for Trump and less than one minute for Sanders.
Bernie Sanders polls equal to or better than Donald Trump in every single poll, but the corporate owned network news divisions have given Trump nearly 30 times more airtime than Sanders. These same broadcast networks also spent nearly the same amount of time covering the bogus Republican email scandal as they did discussing Hillary Clintons campaign, so its not as if the networks are anti-Sanders and pro-Clinton.
The corporate owned profit first network news divisions have made the editorial decision that they are going to lavish airtime upon the presidential candidate who most fits their corporate owners ideology.

(3,544 posts)And the ones you list are it. Bernie made it quite clear on his very first speech that he was after them. The decision is quite clear this election. Vote for the 1% and the oligarchs, etc, or Bernie.
Again, this is a simple case of people voting against their best interest. I don't get it.

(24,411 posts)We're the first caucus state, so there is more general media coverage because the candidates are here, as well as other political events.
The MSM is blacking out Sanders for sure.
Look at this story from our local CBS affiliate, KCCI. With the debates coming up, this was the article touting the focus of the debate. This article was on the KCCI website. To click on it, you had to click through a picture of Hillary.
You open up the article, and the article is about the economic focus of the debate. There's a video at the top, which features the reporter talking about economics, interviewing a local woman and a local economics professor. There's also a clip of Hillary speaking about the economy at a rally.
Not once in this article, are Sanders or O'Malley even mentioned. Not once. However, Hillary is quoted in the article. But no mention of the other candidates.

Yeah, it's frustrating. But it's not unexpected. We knew this would be a tough fight. The media is owned by a few corporations. They're protecting their interests by giving her every media advantage while ignoring the other candidates.
At least half of the people in this country don't get their news from the MSM. Their ratings drop more every year. People don't make up their mind about a Presidential candidate based on ABC's propaganda. However, of course this has an impact, despite the fact that the majority of Americans get most of their news from social media.
The only way to fight this is to work hard to get Bernie elected. "We The People" have always had the power. We just have to use it. My answer is to make phone calls, canvass, start a blog, talk to the people around you. Go to local Bernie campaign offices and find out if they need help. Calling and canvassing can be intimidating. Start out slow. Volunteer with groups of people at first. Do something. Anything.
The difference between the campaigns is that Hillary's campaign is plastic and propped up by the one percenters. She's got the MSM in the tank for her. I'm sure they attend the same cocktail parties. She purchases Twitter followers, pays people to stalk political message boards, and plays lots of dirty political tricks. Bernie's campaign has grown naturally from people who are genuinely interested. She's smoke and mirrors. Bernie is real. So, when it comes time to voting--the one percenters and the paid shills only have one vote. We have millions. Bernie could beat her. We just have to do our part. Bernie says it constantly. This is not about him (stark contrast to Hillary), this is about a revolution. And that starts with us. We have to do the heavy lifting. Bernie is just the figurehead representing our interests. So, get out and there do it.
