Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumJust putting this out there
If Bernie supporters stayed out of threads that are meant to incite, more Bernie supporters would be available for juries.
If Bernie supporters ignored posts meant to incite, then the posts would drop like stones.
Most importantly, I think we're just allowing ourselves to be drawn into drama and then our real message is lost. That being, of the two main candidates, (sorry Martin O'Malley, I do love) Bernie Sanders is the only one that will actually fight for the 99%. His record proves it. Just like Clinton's record proves she a war mongering, corporatist that cares more about money than anything else.
I know I'm guilty of it myself. I'm not calling anyone out here. I will, however, quote my beloved, wise, grandmother again, "The more that'll be said about it, the more there'll be said about it."
So, please, I beseech you, stick to facts, ignore the drama, and let's get Bernie Sanders elected President of the United States of America.

I mostly ignore OPs by certain posters. Tend to refute certain memes, but am growing tired of the idiocy, so if for no other reason, that is one that is making me engage less.
It is sad what DU had become and that the admins allow obvious and admitted trolling now.
Skinner said in ATA that in every primary people try to start other sites and they always fail. Between that and not being able to deactivate your account, he's secure that no matter what, people won't leave for long

(7,318 posts)any Hillary supporter is to keep us Bernie supporters motivated. So, more and more of my energy is now offline focusing on registering people as Dems for the primaries that require that, and making sure that they get to the polls/their caucus location.

(62,325 posts)Flame Bait threads that are lying, is to post a NEW OP filled with FACTS.
Lies challenged inside the Flame Bait thread perpetrate the lies by kicking them and keeping them going.
If you see eg, something about Bernie's age, which is a non issue btw, post a new OP about Hillary's age which of course doesn't matter either.
Boring, flame bait threads will sink and go unnoticed if they are not fed by people attempting to correct them. THAT is what they WANT.
Hundreds of comments arguing within such threads makes it seem as if they are about something important and more people read the OP but few will read all the comments
Iow, no matter how factual or brilliant a comment may be, the arbiters of flame bait threads know that no one is going to read them and they are lost in the crowd. Better to turn good comments responding to lies, into their own OPs.
Let the facts get to the Rec list, not the lies. Commenting in such threads is like pouring fuel on a fire.

I think lies should be refuted. If we stayed out of those threads, they would just reply to themselves and pat themselves on the back. The threads wouldn't sink.
marym625
(17,997 posts)I know we need to refute lies. Absolutely. But we're getting drawn into the drama. The ridiculous drama. The responses that have nothing to do with anything realistic or the issues. That's the stuff I'm talking about
darkangel218
(13,985 posts)Some posters don't actually argue facts, they just flamebait, and I agree we should stay away from these type of posts.

(20,453 posts)One thing is likely - some of them operate like they are paid. It's a way of giving to the "cause".
Personally, I'm in the midst of finishing Bernie's "Outsider in the White House" revised book. I've been taking what I've learned. The truth is unstoppable when discussion turns to the issues.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
As someone who is neither a Hillary supporter or basher or a Bernie supporter or basher, I think that using groups to talk about and slime the supporters of other candidates is pretty much the antithesis of democratic values and why this web site exists.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Nov 30, 2015, 12:42 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: As an undecided Democrat, I, too, have tired of this nonsense. Anyone who continues it, should be called out on it. This post is harmful to DU.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Why not refute the post then?
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Just going through it makes me want to scream, at some of the outrageous tactics that are used there and for what? Do they really think its going to change someones mind? Its not healthy there, and some of the posts are DESIGNED for a knee jerk reaction. Its like kicking someone in the knee and running away.. I am just avoiding it all together. I know who I am voting for.. I am intelligent enough to know how I feel about my candidate and what's possible. Intimidation never works.
marym625
(17,997 posts)That's the way to do it. And you're dead on right!
yuiyoshida
(41,831 posts)The people who use these intimidation tactics think it will end after the elections are long over but people will remember who were there at the heart of it. DU is very divided right now, and I don't think it will ever recover. Maybe that's the plan...in the long run, to bring this website down and make us look foolish. I don't think once this is all over, there will be total satisfaction here. And, should a Republican steal the White House again, then there will truly be anger and finger pointing, and blame. I remember when Bush won in 2000 and how disappointed I was..and how the Republican's pushed it in our faces, calling us losers, and telling us to GET OVER IT! Its why I came here...we all needed someone to lean on, during those times. I hope to hell we don't go though that ever again.
marym625
(17,997 posts)You may be right. And I don't see this place healing soon either. It's been allowed to continue without a word. We are why the site continues and it's up to us to decide to stay or not, in most cases anyway.
I know what I'm going to do. Hoping others will decide the same.

(17,997 posts)Cool! You're beseeched! Love it!
Don't hit so hard. Most of us fall into the trap.
No Child Left Behind, Bankruptcy bill, Patriot Act and War in Iraq is all that need be said. Well, there's so much more, like drones, more weapons of war than any other SoS, trying to push class warfare, drones, no fly zones, minimum wage, trickle down etc etc. Point is, snark and drama are not needed. Facts work.
