That would give the elite complete control of the slave workers. that's how I see it

Kill education--uneducated workers make better, more docile serfs.
Kill unions--they speak up for the workers
Kill VOTING--that gives them perpetual power.

(you see where this is all going?)

...trouble finding good places to invest it. Owning public services would provide an enormous customer base and a monopoly. Of course they want to privatize. Their so-called small government philosophy is just a smoke screen. They want public service monopolies. That's how I see it.

Guess I'm a Democratic Socialist. I wish we could get improvements to all of them. Infrastructure, for one thing. Decaying infrastructure was partly responsible for the destruction in midland and coastal SC during the recent floods.

Hopefully this new interest in socialism will encourage people to look into it a little more. Wikipedia can actually be a great resource for info on socialism.

I think that among the things govt does better than private industry are run postal systems and public utilities.

I also think government is much better at regulating private industry than private industry is at self-regulation.

So I am against the free trade being now being considered.

I don't think that rich people are necessarily the smartest ones in the room. They're just the richest. Just look at the idiots who drove General Motors into the ground. Just look at the crooked bankers who crashed the world economy.

I believe in one person/one vote and universal suffrage.

I believe in guaranteed civil liberties, including the right to be free of government intrusion.

I believe in the equality all citizens and in encouraging everyone to participate in public affairs.

I believe in free and fair elections and that money in politics distorts the will of the people and that there is no difference between a generous campaign contribution and a bribe.

If that makes a democratic socialist, then I shall wear the label proudly.

Not more money. That's the hallmark of greed, and another political party had cornered the market on that particular "deadly sin."

Instead, I want:
• More investment in our infrastructure;
• More priority on renewable energy resources (as opposed to fossil fuels, and the environmental impact of their exploitation);
• More support for military families and veterans, and a corresponding decreased support for the MIC's inquenchable thirst for profits; and
•More emphasis on "domestic tranquility," i.e. Jobs, education, health care, real justice.

I could go on and on -- as could most readers here.
YES, I'm a Democratic Socialist and damned proud of it!

Preaching to the choir is not a bad thing: that's how you get them to sing louder and longer.
