#BERNTHETURKEY DAY TWO - Universal Healthcare is a win-win! - A FeelTheBern.org Production

Good Morning once again to everyone, and welcome to the second installment of Operation Bern the Turkey. To read our previous post, click here. Don’t forget to check out our Bern the Turkey campaign page here, where all the installments can be accessed easily on both desktop and mobile, as they come out.

Today, we're going to talk about one of Bernie's most popular platforms, universal healthcare, and how to present its benefits to your families while addressing commonly brought up negatives.

Bernie Sanders wants to create a Medicare-For-All Universal Health Care system which would cover everyone regardless of income and every single American would be automatically enrolled. From studying other countries and analyzing other Universal Health Care plans, we know that this program would save a lot of money - for both the average American and the government. With a small price tag (relative to current health care spending) we can cover more people. It's a win-win.

Why Change our Current System?

More than 10% of Americans currently don’t have health insurance, in part because the cost of health insurance is a huge financial burden on working and middle class families. Even those with health care often fall into bankruptcy, and many people refuse to go to a hospital for anything but emergencies due to cost, when they ought to be receiving preventative care and general check-ups - both of which save lives and increase overall healthiness. The United States lags behind almost every other developed nation in the world by not having Universal Healthcare. We need to eliminate corporate profit from people getting sick.

Bernie’s Solution?

in out of pocket expenses right off the top.

Don't be scared if they mention the 2.2 percent tax hike that may happen - remind your family they are currently paying anywhere from 15 to 20 percent out-of-pocket for their insurance and/or deductibles, which they won't have under a single-payer system.
