http://www.buzzfeed.com/evanmcsan/bernie-sanders-still-for-accepting-refugees-slams-racism-and?bftwnews&utm_term=4ldqpgc#4ldqpgc"I am disturbed by some of what I am hearing from my Republican colleagues," Sanders said. "During these difficult times as Americans, we will not succumb to racism. We will not allow ourselves to be divided and succumb to Islamophobia. And while hundreds of thousands have lost everything, have nothing left but the shirts on their backs, we will not turn our backs on the refugees!"
We will learn the lessons of history. Yesterday, the chairman of the Republican National Committee stated, never before have we seen an American president meaning President Obama project so much weakness, Sanders said. Well as many of you will remember, back in 2002, we had a president, President Bush. He was very, very tough. But not very smart.
(snip)
But he did offer some more thoughts on how he would take on ISIS should he win the White House. He said Monday he wanted to build a global coalition to take on ISIS -- but he left out comments that he made Sunday in Iowa, that he would enlist Iran and Russia in that fight.
(snip)
Yes, we need to create a worldwide coalition that will defeat ISIS, he said. But, no, the United States Of America must not be involved in perpetual warfare in the Middle East.
"we will learn the lessons of history," Sanders says. George W Bush "was tough but he was not very smart."
"To my Republican Collegues, we need to be tough, yes. But we do not need to be stupid. We do not need perpetual warfare."

(14,587 posts)1. I like Bernie more every time he opens his mouth.
I don't think we could find a more principled or moral candidate.

(23,730 posts)4. that's the word--"inspiring": not because of his record, not because "we trust him," not because we
project everything we're for onto a blank-screen candidate
but because while others, even Dems, might hedge and qualify their denunciation (and while the Pubs will go full ka-tzet), he just blows right to the point; while other candidates have to carefully balance all their prospective constituents and donors when responding to a question, causing them to flail ("Wall Street? 9-11!" "what about the xenophobe vote?" , he can directly condemn inhumane thinking
his positions are ones you want to adopt for yourself (or vice-versa)
