NewsCorpse just bought out the National Geographic Society and then promptly laid off all the talented writers and editors. OK, they have controlled the National Geographic Channel for some time now, but the magazine was the flagship of that brand and it is now under the control of Murdoch's pirates in shark-infested waters.

Society staff and HQ. I love that building with exhibits and programs in downtown DC for ages.
The Koch Bros. also have their hands in many aspects of American life and culture including funding PBS programs like 'NOVA' on science, and major American science museums even while denying CLIMATE CHANGE. See post #8 if you like. Scary stuff, Oligarchic power.

The KOCH BROTHERS are the 5th and 6th richest people in the world. Along with the energy industry they are aggressively involved in funding POLITICIANS and dozens of advocacy THINK TANKS like the Heritage Foundation, the Cato Institute and ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council that works to implement extreme rightwing libertarian economic policies on the national, state and local level.

The Kochs are also in the business of EDUCATION, funding 300 American colleges and universities, mainly the economics and business departments and selecting some professors and curriculum. The Kochs also give money for business programs and student grants at US High Schools. As well they fund PBS programs like 'NOVA' on science, and major American science museums although they deny CLIMATE CHANGE.

CBS sold off its record company to Japanese company Sony Corporation in 1988.

A big part of Newscorp has been owned by a Saudi prince too.

If that happens more, and it seems like we have less control over this, then will we be spoon fed news that is more in the interest of other countries for us to have filtered for their sake than ours?
