Think of Bill.as the first black president, i think it goes with the territory.

And name recognition.

But for a man of the people, I hope POC discover Bernie.

We need to do better at getting Bernie's message out to PoC in a way that will connect. And we can.

Of the "3" reasons given, only #2 (that he needs to push a stronger, more positive message) was actually a reason.

#1 (that he isn't polling well among blacks) and #3 (that he polls well among younger demo, but mainly white) are interesting stats, but not reasons.

Now, whether he can change is style...?

The interview itself is not specifically about the rift between AA and liberals in terms of the election, but it provides a lot of historical context that explains it. If you want to connect with AA politically, you need to understand historical context and perspectives based on it. As a black Bernie supporter, I urge serious Bernsters to listen to it.

It's also a riveting interview in its own right. Joy Reid usually nails it and makes it look easy.

She discussed her book, Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons and the Racial Divide.

Listen to the interview here:

It starts about twelve minutes in.

She explains some history, as far back as the Johnson presidency, and how it all affects electoral politics, including the current democratic race.
