Sanders: Clinton Will Be 'Infinitely Better' On Her Worst Day Than Any Republican On His Best

True, but let's go for the best possible option here.

http://crooksandliars.com/2015/11/sanders-clinton-will-be-infinitely-better

SANDERS: Well, that’s -- well, the answer is yes and no. Yes, we do agree on a number of issues, and by the way, on her worst day, Hillary Clinton will be an infinitely better candidate and president than the Republican candidate on his best day. But having said that, we have very sigfnicant differences and the key difference is I see a nation in which we have a grotesque level of income and wealth inequality.

Almost all the new income and wealth is going to the top 1 percent. I see a political system which is corrupt, where super PACs are able to receive huge amounts of money from millionaires and billionaires. I think if you look at my history, and what I’m saying on this campaign, we need a political revolution. We need to stand up to the top 1 percent. We need to transform American politics and the way we do economics.

And by the way, George, if we may, we need to have a media more interested in the issues facing working class people and the middle class rather than political gossip.

So do I agree with Hillary Clinton on this or that issue? Of course I do. But I think on issues, for example, like Wall Street -- you know I believe that these guys who drove our economy into the ground, destroyed so many lives, I think that the end of the day, what we have to do is reestablish Glass-Steagall, we have to break up these huge financial institutions. That is not Hillary Clinton’s position at all.

1. Well, we already knew he'd say something like that, which is why he was accused of being

a 'sheepdog' by actual socialists and communists.

Personally, I wouldn't have said 'infinitely', but more along the lines of about the same on her worst days as them on their best. The real question is how many worst days and how many best days would she have.

and that's the only way he will get Hillary to concede gracefully. So let the Master do his thing, padawan!

4. I cannot rec this because it proposes a false dichotomy

A false dichotomy is a dichotomy that is not jointly exhaustive (there are other alternatives), or that is not mutually exclusive (the alternatives overlap), or that is possibly neither. Note that the example given above is not mutually exclusive, since the test and the program could both be wrong.

I find it extremely ironic that SOME posters on this board who scream & yell about SCIENCE! are so quick to leave it behind when it doesn't serve their purposes.

If we get to a point where Bernie bows out & hands it over to "Ms. Inevitable" then perhaps I will re-assess my position. Right now I am still hoping for an independent run if we are pushed out by the party apparatus. In no way is that advocating a republican victory in my mind - because from where I'm sitting I see a whole lot of pissed off people in this country. So much so that an old Jewish leftist (which I say lovingly, being of the same character myself) and a moron (Trump) are more amenable to the populace than most of the others running. I think an independent run with a good VP choice could be far better than either major party. We are at that point in this country where I think it could actually happen.

If we fall into the trap - especially this early - of saying "oh well - what can we do?" then we have already lost imo.

5. See how kind and gracious he is? Can any of you EVER imagine Clinton saying that about Bernie?

Me either.

He's a kindhearted soul. Our modern day FDR, for sure.

A while back someone posted a video comprising footage of Hillary and Bill, separately and together, knocking Obama after he won the nomination but before the GE. I'd love to find that video again, it was so revealing.

Bernie is a way better human being than Hillary.

6. Maybe, but that's not good enough. And it definitely is not to say that they are "a horse a piece."

Each would follow their elections with different policy prescriptions. These are not small differences, either. These are big philosophical differences. These differences will likely wind up being between austerity based solutions and social safety-net stimulative solutions. I agree. On social issues we aren't really going to see too much difference between the two, but on issues of economics, labor, international interventions, trade policy, social safety net, our relationship to authority and state actor accountability (police brutality, tactics, and targets), etc the differences are stark. We NEED to talk about THESE issues. THESE differences matter. THESE differences will mean life or death for people.

No, we need not stop pointing out differences. We need to deconstruct and examine these candidate's political theory and we need to point out why and where they are left wanting. We really don't have much time so we need to point these differences and their consequences out aggressively enough that they grab attention of voters. And mostly we need to stop trying to front the idea that these candidates are equal in any way.

I know Bernie said Hillary would be vastly better than any republican. Ok. Fine. But would she be relatively equal to Bernie? I think not. We can count the ways, but not if the call continues to be that there isn't much difference between the two.

than a republican when we can actually have someone who will push an agenda that meets the needs of the American people. But this I do believe, when it comes to waging war from her rhetoric in the campaign so far and some of her action as SOS, she's certainly no better than a republican.

I was cruelly reminded of that fact just today. A friend whose house was foreclosed is having a tough time, a really tough time.

And it is due to the economic recession of 2008 from which her family has still not recovered.

It isn't just about the economics, the numbers. It's about lost dreams. It's about a feeling of shame for having lost out, for having lost jobs and homes and dignity.

That recession really ruined a lot more lives than the media can report on. People hide their shame, their disappointment and their misery.

And the bankers are sitting pretty after having hurt so many good people.

It's not how rich you are. It's how you got rich that makes me angry.

It's the misery you caused on your way up that is so sick.

You fund charities but you ruin lives. That's not virtue. That's evil.
