Caucus for Bernie Training

Just got home from a Bernie Sanders for President Caucus Training event here in Washington state and it was outstanding! Got a lot of good feedback. We also ran through a mock delegate choosing event and I, as well as many there, thought I did very well. You have one minute to sell yourself as to why you should be a delegate.

Also learned some very valuable talking (LISTENING) points. I think all of us Bernie supporters could do a much better job talking about our candidate and a lot less about the other candidates.

First and foremost, listen
If someone says they are not sure about Bernie or say they don't think he can get elected, ask them why. Let them have their say and address their concerns with facts. Not snark. Not rudeness. Not insulting their intelligence. Not insulting their possible candidate choices. Not insulting their political party.
I am as guilty of not listening as many of us are here.

1) Never call out another Democrat by name. Say "Bernie's opponent(s)". Say "the other candidate(s)". Never give another candidate the air time. the press lines. The column space. The lip service.

The only candidate you should be talking about by name is BERNIE SANDERS

Never speak poorly of the Democratic Party. I know some of you may have some heartburn with that. Here is why it matters:
If you are talking to someone on the fence, an independent, a republican, that may be thinking about voting for Bernie in their primary or caucus, how well of a job are you doing selling Bernie when you trash the party he joined to run for President? It is counter-intuitive. Don't!

3) We need EVERY VOTE so turn no one away.

Do you want Bernie Sanders to be our next president? EVERY.VOTE.MATTERS. bring friends and family and anyone else you can to the your precinct caucus. To your primary. Whatever you can. However you can. Repeat after me: EVERY. VOTE. MATTERS.

We need as many delegates to the convention in Philadelphia as we can get.

Are you in this because you dislike the other candidates or are you in this to elect BERNIE SANDERS THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES???

I am filling in with some of my own words but the points I am making here are not mine but directly from the caucus training material. This is how we are being asked to interact and carry Bernie's message to those we know and those we don't know.

The advice you provided is beneficial even to those without caucuses. Good luck in the caucuses!!
