Yesterday as I was taking a walk up here in rural Alaska

I saw a huge bernie yard sign in the window of an apartment. I knocked on their door and a frail elder man opened. I asked about his sign and he told me he got it at Daily Kos. He was the last person you would expect to have liberal opinions but then, can't judge a book by its cover. He said I was the seventh person to ask him about it which meant people had to enter his apartment building, figure out which was his and knock.

That is something I have never heard or seen anyone else do no matter where I have ever lived. Times, they are a changing. Even in rural Alaska, they feel the bern.

I actually just put a window sign up about a week ago.

In an order from the Bernie store, I got a white rally sign, which is 11" X 17"...and made color copies. I know the sun will wear it down and want to be able to put up a fresh one every few weeks.

First in Juneau, then Anchorage, then Fairbanks, back to Anchorage with a brief stint in King Salmon (Naknek actually). Alaska was home from 1972 until 1978. Loved it but my future was down here in the Lower 48.

but I gave it up for the safety, security and better pay found at an airline. Besides, lunch in Paris or Sydney beats the heck out of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich from a brown paper bag in Egegik.

I'd almost forgotten about South Naknek. I remember one day I was enroute from Egegik in a Cessna 185 on wheel skies to King Salmon. I was alone so I flew at about 500'. I looked down and saw 2 snowmobiles (or as the folks up there call them snow machines) stopped and 3 people standing nearby waving at me. It was about 10 degrees so I figured I better land and check on them. It turned out to be 3 native guys drunk as skunks. One of them came up to me and put his face and boozy breath about 2 inches from mine and said, "Sno-go no go. No gas." They had an empty gas can so I drained a few gallons of fuel out of the airplane and put it in their snowmobiles. Then off they went to their home in South Naknek. I always wondered how much damage the avgas did to the valves in those Polaris engines.

My impression of Alaska, from my 12 years in Cordova, was that it's a strongly populist place with solid liberal leanings 0- most of the "conservativism" is of the "fear of big gub'mint" type rather than the heavy ideology.

That bernie would have fans in Alaska is the least surprising thing

in the 70's. Of course it was the height of the pipeline and the place was overrun with oil construction workers from Texas and Oklahoma. Not real progressive folks.

I'm sure there are lots of Bernie tees in Austin, but the Y is my main destination.

Berning Manhattan, a tourist accepted a sticker from me and joked that he could "get shot back in Texas" if he wore it. I said yeah, it's a lot easier up here.

is a friend on FB. He lives in Virginia, leans heavily right, loves his guns, and watches too much FAUX News. BUT. He is also a Union member. I have seen more posts supportive of Bernie on his page than most of my liberal friends.

Bernie's appeal cuts across some interesting demographics, that's for sure!

Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.

Then Bernie will win.

It's a screen-shot from Rachael's show a couple of months ago, not a great pic,
a bit fuzzy, but if you look close, there's a "BERNIE" bumper sticker there, just
under the Dalton Hwy banner. LOL .. it cracked me up at the time.
