Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton technically beat Bernie Sanders by $2 million in the chase for campaign cash over the past three months. But that isn't the story not even close.
Clinton held 58 fundraising events to raise her total; Sanders held seven. As of the end of September, Sanders had brought in 1.3 million total donations from 650,000 individuals since he began running. Clinton's campaign did not release how many total donors she has. And Sanders ended September with $25 million in the bank; Clinton did not release how much money her campaign had on hand.
Read between the lines, and you get this: Sanders is drawing huge amounts of small-dollar donations via the Web. That means two important things: (1) Sanders has been able to concentrate on meeting and greeting potential voters rather than spending his time courting donors, and (2) He has been able to conserve money because he isn't spending cash on lavish events for donors.

The comments under the story are pretty funny too. Looks like a lot of Hillary supporters aren't happy with the article.

(30 posts)It's too bad the candidates don't received public funding so they can concentrate on getting their message out to the electorate rather than needing a staff just to raise funds.
But the reality must be dealt with and Bernie is raising funds from the only people to whom he should be accountable.... The voters.
And Bernie is keeping expenses low. He even takes coach accommodations on plane flights between campaign stops.
Hillary, on the other hand is taking BIG donations and incurring obligations that will have to be repaid should she win. That means her campaign promises will be compromised.

(18,791 posts)His campaign staff has been brilliant about managing their monies. They've leveraged social media and the net...they've done almost no advertising...there is no private jet...no bucks wasted on polls...and it goes on and on.
Yup...brilliant!

(8,175 posts)discussed this. Ben and Jerry from Vermont were his guests and someone said what we need to see now is if people power (Bernie) can beat the power of money (Hillary). And I think people power can win.
Personally, I know people power can win, if we just stick with it. We, the people, have to be in it to win, or it's a waste of effort.

The People Power Revolution (also known as the EDSA Revolution and the Philippine Revolution of 1986) was a series of popular demonstrations in the Philippines that began in 1983 and culminated on February 2225, 1986. The methods used amounted to a sustained campaign of civil resistance against regime violence and electoral fraud. This case of nonviolent revolution led to the departure of President Ferdinand Marcos and the restoration of the country's democracy. It is also referred to as the Yellow Revolution due to the presence of yellow ribbons during the demonstrations following the assassination of Filipino senator Benigno Aquino, Jr..[4][5] It was widely seen as a victory of the people against the 20-year running authoritarian, repressive[6] regime of then president Ferdinand Marcos and made news headlines as "the revolution that surprised the world".[7]

My point being, we do not have to be the silent passive victims of the elites.
