Can Bernie establish a Scandinavian brand of egalitarianism in the US? An Independent View

I don't agree with everything the guy says but he does have some interesting ideas. I personally don't think there's any question that the changes Bernie is pushing for would work. In contrast to trickle-down, which has never worked and never will, the kind of government stimulation of the economy Bernie is talking about would definitely work, and it will always work if it's applied thoughtfully and consistently. The guy seems to suggest it would be too big a strain on the US to support the degree of welfare statism of a Norway or Sweden. He may have some good points. It's not long and worth the read.

but we want to enforce the wishes of the corporate oligarchy around the world with a military that is ten times bigger than anyone else's. There is very little left over after paying that g-d bill. That is the bottom line.

It consist mainly of using the power of the government to make corporations and wealthy citizens finance a place where everybody is taken care of. This applies particularly to health care and old age care. We could do it here, but it would require raising taxes on the upper brackets, and eliminating most exemptions.
