I support Bernie because he and I agree on just about every issue. And his history of consistency and being right on the issues is an important trust factor.

But there's another reason I support him that's more practical and, frankly, selfish.

I don't want a President whose "heart is in the right place" but must be coaxed repeatedly into taking positions that reflect the interests of average Americans. Like most Americans, I don't have time for non-stop outrage, calling my representatives, and writing letters to the editor.

Just think if you had to monitor, protest, cajole, and complain every time you pumped gas or bought a loaf of bread or hired a babysitter. That might sound like heaven to my Libertarian friends, but it's the definition of hell for the rest of us. Life is too short.

We should hold our elected officials to higher standards. They should do the right thing for the people who elect them because they want to do what's right for their constituents, not because there's something in it for them, personally.

Bernie is almost unique in that respect among national politicians, today. That's why I want to see him in the oval office.
