I Know You've Heard this Before . . .

but I just compared the posts in this group to those of another candidate and the difference is amazing. There are so many more posts here and the tone is so POSITIVE!

It's so nice to actually have a candidate I WANT TO SUPPORT rather than someone I vote for because they're somewhat better than the R's.

Maybe I'm naive and the other group is correct. Maybe Bernie doesn't stand a chance in the later primaries. Maybe it takes more resources than he can muster. Maybe he's too radical to win in the General. Maybe.

All I know is I'm tired of being sold-out. And I believe a lot of other people are tired of it as well. And when it comes time to vote in the primary here in Tennessee, even if I have to write-in his name, I'm voting for Bernie Sanders.

With Bernie, I don't have to look to find a Reason to Believe. The Reason is right there in his consistency and integrity. I'm a proud supporter of Senator Sanders.

Bernie's been in DC a while now, knows how things work (or not),
knows where the bodies are buried, and has the FDR/psyche/DNA
to actually make a huge difference.

get support, build networks in the Beltway. I think that's why Obama had such a tough first term and why Carter had only one term. The Federal Bureaucracy is immense and a melting pot of various players from various administrations. And they are lifers for that golden pension.

I'm really proud of him. He's gotten a lot done considering he had NO support from republicans and sometimes LIMITED support from Democrats.

It really hurt me to see the comments some of the posters here made (I only have one poster on ignore and btw, I'd buy a used case from President Obama). He didn't get everything that I wanted and I don't understand some of the positions he's taking now (TPP, drilling in the Arctic). I just hope he's suckering the republicans into cooperating with him on those issues so it can be used against them in 2016.

All in all, I believe he's done a remarkably good job and I believe we should have a little faith in the man.

I believe President Obama was too cautious and could have gotten more done than he did (although he got a LOT accomplished despite an intransigent congress) and wish for what might have been.

Bernie knows what Obama had to learn - there is NO DEALING with the republicans. Bash them over the head and take no prisoners. Catch them in the crossfire and make the mfer's run. Plainly and vociferously call them out on their BS and let us decide what's right. Americans know the difference between shit and Shinola. Don't pander to them, it makes you look weak and Americans don't want to support that.

Maybe the President was afraid some nut bag would (or still might) assassinate him. Maybe he thought he could work with the republicans and forge some kind of national unity. Maybe he really believes in the steps he took. I don't know. He did a lot. He could have done more. I respect him for what he did but he left a lot on the table. Bernie won't. He'll fight for ALL the marbles. And with Hillary it will be more trying to work with the Devil(s), compromise, third-way BS.

In summation, you're right. I believe Bernie is running because there are too many instances where the President lost his nerve (or followed bad advice/instincts) and Senator Sanders won't do that. I'm going to give the President his due, though. He struck several licks that hurt the repubs and he did some good things and I'm proud of him for what he did do.

make it three...he's a truly nice person and is trustworthy, and expects that from others. Anyone who can charm little ones like he can,,,and as a teacher know that's a gift. Can't imagine Christie, Jeb or any other the others literally enchanting little ones.

But his second term has reflected what I think he intended to do and more, so I don't fault him.

We loved President Obama because he wanted change and gave us hope. Hillary supporters see her as his logical replacement - but I do not.

Bernie is the continuation of the change that President Obama started but was unable to deliver due to the R (and sometimes Democratic) obstruction. Bernie takes President Obama's message of hope and change and gives it body - fleshes it out into concrete ideas that will bring about that change.

President Obama said "Yes we can" Bernie says "I cannot do it alone. We have to do it together."

President Obama put us onto the road toward change now we need to follow Bernie on that same path to fight for the change we want and obviously need. Bernie is the logical replacement for President Obama. They are on the same continuum - forward to change.

12. I attended a Bernie rally on my 78th birthday this week
Mon Sep 7, 2015, 07:49 PM
Sep 2015

I have been a political junkie for a number of years, reading and belonging to DU, but never posting (afraid of ridicule) and an avid supporter of Majority Report, among other podcasts and Internet sites of the Liberal persuasion, but always with a heavy heart as I could not convince myself that the plutocracy could be knocked off their perch.

Bernie has changed all that. Not just with the integrity he's shown during his time in politics, but the passion and conviction he exudes. And, I believe he is plainly the smartest and wisest choice out there. He states plainly that he can't do it alone, which Obama had to learn the hard way.

So, when I got an email notice that he would be appearing at a rally in Burlington Ia Sept. 3rd, an hour and a half away from my home in Quincy IL. I jumped at the chance to go. It was held at 7:30PM in a livestock arena at the county fairgrounds, which is a concrete floor, surrounded by a wooden fence with a roof suspended over all. No A/C, and no cooling breezes either.

I took a neighbor who had never heard of Bernie Sanders just a week previously. I had enlightened her of course, risking turning her off him by too much policy talk, but she was very impressed with his record and policy proposals. While I have never asked her about her politics, she is quite conservative by nature. And, my 22 year old grandson drove from Champaign IL, where he got his bachelor's degree this spring. I had encouraged him to learn about Bernie and I think he may apply for a job with his campaign soon. His degree is in political science.

We arrived at 6:30, just as the doors opened, and there were already a couple of hundred people there. Don't know the capacity of the space, but by the time Bernie arrived, all seats were full and a double row standing in the back. The temperature that day was somewhere above 90 degrees and the humidity about that number. Water was being handed out and we used our Bernie signs for fans. Attendees tended to be more young people in their 20s, but a generous supply of seniors too. My grandson said I was probably the oldest one there. Am sure the weather kept some at home.

Bernie was greeted with a standing cheer that was more of a roar. He was interrupted by applause with every statement, and brought people to their feet when talking about veterans care, Citizens' United, and unions. Burlington, like most of this area, has lost most all their good-paying union jobs. He spoke for an hour and 5 minutes, and tho it was supposed to be a townhall-type meeting, there were no questions. By the end of his speech, Bernie's shirt was damp from collar to belt, so don't believe any stuff you hear about him being too elderly for the Presidency. He was just as fervent and energetic at the end of the speech as at the beginning.

I feel really hopeful for our country for the first time in 30 years, since we unbelievably put Ronald Reagan in office. Previous Democratic candidates and officeholders have pretended to have the concerns of working people in the forefront, but somehow, even when we had majorities in Congress, could never quite overcome Republican obstruction, and the DLC types always ran things. It was truly unbelievable. I feel in my bones that Bernie is different!

He has not given up on the cherished ideals of what it means to be a liberal which he formulated many years ago when he was a young man.
He has the same value system today that he had when he first entered Congress in the early 90's.
He has not sold out.
He does not agree with the corporatists.
He does not ignore huge groups of people to their detriment.

And on top of all that, he's a nice guy.

Bernie is going to be the next President of the United States.
