I think they were hoping to help sanity return to (?finally arrive at?) Washington, D.C. I don't think it worked. Great attendance, though. Got a lot of free TV advertising air time in advance on both shows.

My brother and I went to that rally! Great fun. Didn't think it was
that serious. Two comedy central guys? My brother talked me into
going.I don't have a TV so not really in the loop. I little more so now.
