Bernie Sanders planning first Atlanta appearance

Insurgent Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is scheduled to be in Atlanta on Sept. 11 for a fundraiser.

This news comes a day after Hillary Clinton canceled her September visit to the city.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. at 200 Peachtree. Tickets will cost you a minimum of just $50 to attend.

Per the AJC:

The man who ran as a socialist when he was mayor of Burlington, Vt., has mounted a spirited challenge to Clinton’s left, surging in New Hampshire and Iowa polls. But he has a more difficult challenge in the South, particularly as he tries to break through among black voters.

Sanders often publicly speaks out against “big money” politics boasts that his average donation was $33.51 with 99 percent of campaign donations being under $250, according to CNN.

According to Atlanta Blackstar, Sanders is doing his best to win the black vote:

In addition to police violence, Sanders discussed the link between economic hardships and racial injustice. He specifically addressed raising the minimum wage and curbing childhood poverty.

“This is an issue that cuts across the board. It impacts every race,” he said. “And together we are gonna end the shame of having the highest childhood poverty rate of any major country.”
