We have always commented on how the GOP voters seem to get all of their information from TV - TV knows that, and that is who they cater to. They want ratings, they want clicks. It is not a conspiracy, it is just business.

As Brad Pitt once said in a movie, the United States is not a country, it is a business.

Bernie will get more time when the race tightens up. Right now, the networks want crazy, they want scandal. That's all that is happening. We are so immersed in the primaries, too - and to most people, the primaries are really far away. The vast majority of people, IMO, just give the primaries a passing thought, they don't dwell on it.

So - just ratings, and remember, giant corporations control TV. They always work in their own best interests. I think they are getting ratings with the insane right now, and a sane-looking GOP candidate will be ushered in when the crazy gets old or dies down. They never give the Dems much air time anyway, and at this point they are just hoping for a scandal. That "fair and balanced" thing was gotten rid of a long time ago. The Fairness Doctrine was done away with during Reagan's term.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal-time_rule

I don't think, at this point, the networks are "picking winners", they are just picking what seems to get attention.

why would the term "conspiracy" come into it? Anyone who watches (or just listens to) a full day of MSNBC programming, especially will see a consistency of editorial position that goes from Way Too Early at 5 am through its final Rachel Maddow re-rerun from 4 am to 5 am. And, sometimes, like this morning, Way Too Early will repeat what we just heard on the final Maddow re-run. How would the policy of one network be deemed a conspiracy?

Why is Maddow's infinite detail on whether CNN puts Carly Fiorina at the kids table or not deemed to be more of a ratings grabber than a Presidential political campaign being run without PAC money or bullshit?

All that aside, if you think MSNBC doesn't have an establishment agenda, then we just disagree on that point.

Yeah, MSNBC has an establishment agenda. They are trying to tap into the RW market, the RW viewers. And they belong to a corporation. They also want bigger ratings. They stopped being liberal or whatever a while back. There is really nothing to be done about it, because the Fairness Doctrine was done away with.
Having Bernie win would not suit them at all. But - there is nothing "newsworthy" happening in the Dem camp, by their standards, unless they can find a juicy HRC email, which I don't think is going to happen.

would bring ratings. Instead, they preface every story about the latest batch with "Nothing to see here."

BTW, a Hillary supporter once posted in the Sanders Group to "inform" me that Trump was getting coverage for "saying it like it is" and not being establishment while Bernie was not, only because Trump was the leader in polls on the Republican side. That It was not what I supposedly wanted it be (whatever that means). So, maybe it's worth noting that Carly Fiorina is not leading in polls on the Republican side.

Maybe it is my ADHD, but TV news is so repetitive and lacking in content that I literally cannot bear to watch it. I do believe that MSNBC will stick with whoever they think is winning - and if that changes, so will their coverage. I doubt that anyone who is approached and is enthusiastic about Bernie in Real Life watches political TV at all.

It looks to me like the assignment for HRC supporters is to somehow dampen the enthusiasm of Bernie supporters. Why they think that would translate into enthusiasm for Hillary is mystifyin', but maybe they think they can squelch the grassroots enthusiasm.
Honestly, if Bernie is not the nominee, I will be dropping politics as an interest. It will just be another rigged game.

I doubt anyone on DU thinks something they post is going to cause another DUer to change his or her mind/tune about a POTUS primary candidate. A lot of personal attacks and smearing go on, too; and I can't imagine anyone thinks he is going to get me to vote for Hillary by attempting to imply I am no different from Rush Limbaugh. So, I'm stumped.

Then again, it may be healthier not to even try to parse the "crazy."

is not the kind of job that grows on trees. And being on TV gets you other perks, too.

Cenk apparently managed to better financially on youtube than he did at MSNBC, but, if true, I doubt many can pull that off--and he did have all those years at MSNBC and CIRRENT behind him.

that we would get no TV media time which is why the internet and social network is so important........ plus going out and knocking door to door.

Don't forget since the last two presidential elections the TV news has been called out as totally lacking in objectivity and credence in giving the people
the truth........ and people are waking up to that more and more and more.

I never expected them to cover Sanders........ hell even Rachel plays into this game they want.

something is very wrong in this nation and the planet..............................

The old stories, the old solutions, the old talking points aren't working any more when the world is melting and the latest great extinction is happening before their eyes. The internet is now our last refuge for the finding the truth.

Obama renamed a mountain....then went climbing...... and then allowed arctic drilling in the arctic seas.......

...... Our oceans are dying, which gives life to all on this planet
Yeah that's covered a lot on TV..........LOL

My god didn't the gulf ecological disaster teach us anything? The international oil companies and banksters have spoken again and are in control for now.

If we really knew what is going on.........then we are not watching TV

Maybe I should call myself............ One strong human being instead of the Iching Carpenter but I would never be that arrogant.

I'm tired but the black money helped me make this month's rent and pay for food at the last moment. There is freedom without and freedom within, now that's food for thought if one really thinks about it.

I believe and have seen that positive affirmations within reason can change our realities. This is the pathway we must travel.
Take a small cloud and make it disappear. Then try it many times to see if it was just coincidence.

I post a lot more now on forums where we talk about raising our consciousnesses and what I'm seeing on a international scale
its happening and that includes many of the links I give for consideration of thought on DU.

I see a lot of Obsessive compulsive behavior on DU from both sides
Its dangerous and not healthy. Take a break, enjoy nature or the things you love. I find someone's Aloha and Maholo very revealing to live in such an ecological wonderland and never leave a keyboard.

I lived in Hana for three years........... my daughter at time was the only white girl in her class.

I was never called a Haole by the locals there/, it does not mean white person......They said it meant lack of breath of soul. and they called me a brother in arms in Hawaiian. This was sacred place to all Hawaiians on all Islands..... look it up.

God I wish I could write like Will.
