Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumJust talked to brother-in-law & he said GO BERNIE!
Got a call from my favorite in-law awhile ago and he is from Ireland, a Catholic, a Union guy and a Democrat.
I asked him who he was liking for the election coming up and what did he think of Sen. Sanders.
He said that Sen. Sanders is the only one running that has the message that is the right one for America and he is behind him 100%.
I sort of hoped he would be but didn't exactly know given who Sen. Sanders is and his status portrayed as an (I) at times.
He could have cared less about the (I) thing. He cared about the candidate, this man Bernie Sanders and his message, and yes, he's got his vote and also all of his old buddies from Ireland that he knows as well.
Now how is that for some good news? I think it is great news frankly, just great!
SANDERS 2016 & settle for nothing less!

(20,875 posts)All of the EU meltdown stuff is having a dramatic impact on Ireland due to the debt load they are carrying that they incurred after joining the EU.
Before Ireland was in the EU, the health care system which was run by the country of Ireland was good I'd say. However, now they are wanting to charge them for many things they've never had to pay for before.
However, this has zero impact on my in-law as he resides here in the USA and doesn't travel to Ireland and back anymore due to his age and health.
In any event, we need to concentrate on how a Bernie Sanders as President will impact not only America, but the level of care in this country. I for one do not believe it should be farmed out to people based upon what they have and what they don't have.
One people, one country, one health care system for all and not some B.S. crap that has a $5,000.00/year deductible as some of these Medicare supplemental plans and other non-Medicare plans have! Too many get left behind and still receive NO CARE!
He himself has Kaiser and I guess he thinks it is ok but he thinks the cost is way too high.
This is the area which our country needs a lot of help. I don't necessarily believe that modeling a health care system after what is now in place in the UK or the EU is the answer given the size of the USA and the massive variants between people and place and I believe that we can do better than that!
No one should have to worry if they fall and hurt themselves whether or not Medicare will cover it, Kaiser will cover, it, Medicaid will cover it, etc.
One system for all and it needs to be free or of minimal cost so everyone will be able to participate and no one will be left out nor fined!!!

(16,903 posts)guessing Americans will go in droves to the polls to vote for Bernie... I'm a life-long Democrat, I adore Hillary Clinton, but this 69-yr-old grandma is a rabid Bernie fan.
And it is people like the Tea Party, Cruz, Rubio, Trump, AND Hillary, that have placed me squarely in his camp.
And I'm NOT budging.
