The 2016 Democratic presidential candidate plans to visit the Lynchburg, Va. campus on Sept. 14 for the schools fall convocation, according to Libertys website.
Its website touts the event held three a times a week at its Vines Center as North Americas largest weekly gathering of Christian students. The Lynchburg News & Advance said the events frequently draw more than 12,000 people.
The speeches are also mandatory for residential, undergraduate students at Liberty.

If he could turn that crowd around, it would qualify as a 'miracle'.
Many of the students have been home schooled by religious parents.
They have been sheltered from the truth since birth.
It will be interesting to hear the results of his appearance.
I wonder how many will refuse to attend and just pay the fine ???

(8,352 posts)Young evangelicals, while still very religious, still are trending more and more socially liberal these days. Gay marriage just doesn't bother them in the way it bothers their parents and their grand parents. So they may be more receptive to what he has to say about economic and social justice despite our own prejudices otherwise.
If Sanders is going to beat the money and smear campaigns of the Clinton machine, he will have to get creative. That means getting more independents and even Republicans to vote in the primary for him over Clinton. It will also help him in the general when he must face the Citizens United financial juggernaut which will likely be Jeb Bush.
