Hey Bernie Sanders supporters! This September 5th we are going to BERN Manhattan!
We are going to put a Bernie Sanders canvasser on as many street corners and subway station entrances as possible, all over Manhattan, all at the same time. This is happening on Saturday, September 5th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Hit the "Join" button, and about a week before September 5th I will post on this event page and message everyone individually with their assigned subway station entrance or street corner. Then you just need to show up, and together we can make all of New York City talk about Bernie Sanders!
On September 5th, just bring a Bernie Sanders sign (you can make one yourself if you want) to your post, if you have a campaign tee-shirt, wear that, and from your spot talk to people about Sanders and what we want to accomplish together. Being part of this event will help Sanders gain thousands of supporters. We've all been antsy about wanting to get out and help Sander's presidential campaign, and with only so much time left until the primaries, we have to start now.
If you have never canvassed before, don't worry. Before this event your local volunteer leaders for the campaign will likely teach you how to do it. I will also post a video teaching you how to canvass. It's easy, and fun!

(19,089 posts)To also make sure that each canvasser was familiar with Bernie's platform planks and have some familiarity with issues that Bernie uses in his stump speeches ....
They need to know their stuff - it's N.Y.City! ... New Yorkers are a tough crowd ...

(11,641 posts)It would be great to see Bernie's campaign get behind and help organize street corner events like this one.
An event like this would be a low cost high visibility that actively engages supporters. With the proper support they could have an event similar to the July 29th event where around a 100,000 supporters gathered at over 3500 locations across the US.
This could have some impact with those that haven't heard about Bernie.
