Barack Obama couldn't possibly win in 2008.

The conventional wisdom is rarely very smart.

The common wisdom that he was too young, far too inexperienced, and of course Hillary the Inevitable would obviously win the nomination.

No candidate is every any other candidate.

in 2007 people said Barack O'Bama was unelectable, and Hillary Clinton was the best possible choice and how dare that upstart from Illinois even THINK of challening her?

In 2015, people are saying Bernie Sanders is unelectable, and what we most need is another Clinton in the White House, and how that old white guy even THINK of challenging her?

You cannot underestimate the forces that will be allied against him. We've already seen the denigration and dismissal by the media and the Democratic party elite. It will only get worse.
I don't know if he will win but I know that his campaign is about more than a presidency, it's about building the groundwork for a radical change.
Dean started it with the 50 state strategy, Obama won on the backs of OFA and just pissed it away.
Are we willing to put up this time and really make it a movement?
I'm old, tired, and generally drunk, but I still give a shit and will do all I can to support the people who support me. I won't listen to some "party official" telling me I should support so and so because that's the best we can hope for getting elected.
For those of you out there with a social network, say it loud and proud and often. Bypass the corporate media and generate the back fence buzz.
When I was a kid the backyard gossip was the first line about what was happening, Let's get back to that again and know and talk to our neighbors.
Bernie can win if we actually spread the message and put everything we can into assuring it happens.

His support already is massive.

Every minute of everyday, Americans hear his message and are onboard in a heartbeat.

Even if the impotent, Oligarch media won't talk about him (yet)...it's a whole different era and time with the net and social media...the Oligarchs cannot stop us from communicating, short of pulling the plug on sites or shutting off your power and phone.

Of him speaking to those ginormous crowds I become more and more certain that he will be the next POTUS.
He isn't afraid of going where other dems won't bother like Dallas and Louisiana and they are packed audiences. He truly is bringing ALL of America together. He is not afraid, not being managed.

Bernie can and will stand up to them - we've seen how he can handle the press, etc. He's extremely bright and doesn't take crap. Even though he's a few years older I think we have a far better chance with him. We have an aging baby boom generation who is going to love his positions on strengthening (rather than eliminating) Social Security and Medicare, and no Clinton baggage. I think he's our best shot to keep the White House.

without being forced to, and Bernie is trying to force it to concede. But, then, I worried and worried about Obama and obviously the Secret Service has done a good job (thank goodness!) guarding him and his family.

But, yeah, the sooner Bernie gets Secret Service protection, the better.

They can't get away with saying "Oh, Wall St isn't all that bad really" or "who cares about climate change anyway"

So they say "He can't win". They'll probably keep saying it, after Bernie wins
the nomination, because it will have become their self-defeating mantra, their
tragic self-fulfilling prophecy.
