Bernie Sanders

The WORLD needs new leadership in this country.
Sometimes other nations know more about our government than Americans.
Because what happens here has adversely affected not just Americans, but other parts of the world.
Go Bernie!

(62,325 posts)politically, not just here, but around the world. In the past, the US and its voting population were pretty isolated from the rest of the world, as were most countries.
Meanwhile, Corporations had gone Global and were interfering in countries' governments pretty much everywhere, and while the LOCAL people tried to protest, they didn't have the power to do much. See S.America, eg.
But now the PEOPLE are going Global. The OWS Movement allied itself with protesters in Spain, in France, in Britain, Ireland and on other continents, Asia, Africa, Australia, S. America.
I think that really scared the Globalists which is why the crackdowns HERE looked eerily similar to all the other crackdowns in other countries, same Robo Cops, eg, prompting the observation that there appeared to be some coordination Globally, of the Global Corps who are controlling elections, not just here but everywhere.
Karl Rove eg, has been in Sweden helping to install someone who has become known as 'Europe's Reagan'.
But if the people join forces Globally, a real problem arises for the Globalists who like to keep people isolated in their own small parts of the world.
Labor Unions too have been working in cooperation with Labor groups from other nations.
Especially the Longshoremen who have been thoroughly abused here in this country for a long time now.
History shows you can only oppress a people for so long before something happens to end it. They get TOO greedy, too BRUTAL, too OPPRESSIVE, instead of being satisfied at some point with what they've managed to get away with. And then the people say 'enough is enough'. Same thing throughout history. Oligarchs know this and they are worried. As they should be.

It woke people up to what the grabbing/hoarding class has done to us all.

(62,325 posts)different level. Eg, they have been working closely with Ferguson Protesters and with Black Lives Matter helping to get the word out, joining the demonstrations and helping by sharing their remarkable skills at organization and how to get these protesters heard.
They are working on other issues, helping the homeless, buying land to build tiny houses, eg, among other things.
But they most of all provided the LINGO that makes it easy for people to 'get' the real problem of the top 1% owning much of the wealth of this country.
Bernie was an early public supporter of OWS recognizing that this was what was needed, a grassroots, non-partisan movement to challenge what he had been railing against his entire life mostly to deaf ears in both parties.
Someone said recently that if OWS 'was the seed, Bernie is the fruit' of that movement.
And since OWS has endorsed him and also works with BLM and other Social Movements, I have to say, yes, they were the catalyst to make MONEY in our politics, in the decline of the working class, in the Privatization of everything, public schools, PRISONS, the pushing of 'Welfare Reforms' that sunk the poor even further into hopelessness, while creating a cheap labor force for Corporations.
They EXPLAINED it all very simply so that people were able to get the picture of what it was they KNEW was wrong, but couldn't quite find the words to explain it.
The OWS is still around, they have just dispersed into issue driven politics. They are working for the homeless, energy, environmental, civil liberties...and a whole host of other issues. The network is still pretty strong.
This way they don't get the media to look like dirty hippies sleeping in the park, remember that meme?

Our MSM here doesn't want us to see Global News...they want us to be obsessed with the Kardashians and other Celebrity Porn. Even some of our "so called Left Internet Sites" have to push that "Celebrity Porn" and other Trash Click Bait to stay in business to post a few Populist Left Articles.
Huff Post, Alternet, Salon...etc. All having to do "Distraction Ads" to stay alive. And now....the purge at MSNBC with Chuckie Toad and others going to fill in for more propaganda and Advertising about Drugs that the contraindications are so long about how they can kill you that its a pain and turn off to sit through them to get five minutes of news for every almost 10 minutes of Corporate Trash Advertising dumbing down the American People making them Characatures and Laughing stock in the hideous ads.

(62,325 posts)But of course that was not going to happen so long as we have the same people in power here that are in power over there.
But at least he tried. Nothing is going to be fixed until these predators are removed for positions of power not just here, but in Europe also.
As for MSNBC firing Ed, it is so transparent. I can't stand to watch what passes for news on our Corporate media, so usually just skip it altogether.
They don't have the influence they used to have though. They are simply not reaching the audience they want to reach as more and more people tune them out and find other sources of news.

(62,325 posts)friends and relatives in Europe, are spreading the word. And yes, their press, despite being nowhere near what it use to be, is still better than our totally Corporate Controlled media.
See how they are taking Ed of the air, the most supportive host of Unions and Bernie. Remember Donahue and Keith?
We are sooooo censored here. Thank the gods for the internet or we would not know what was going on, we would know something was wrong, but not understand it all if we were relying on the Corporate propaganda machine.

(15,480 posts)I posted the following article from the Guardian in GD Primary today. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251476781#post21)
Only the last paragraph mentions Bernie, but the comments in the Guardian to this article have many pro-Bernie and anti-Hillary statements.
Hillary Clinton aides' Wall Street links raise economic policy doubts
(headline)
Tom Nides and Robert Hormats, once of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, are veterans of the revolving door between Washington and the financial sector(subheadline) http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jul/26/wall-street-links-hillary-clinton-aides-economic-policy-doubts
(final paragraph)
Concern about that revolving door has led to a petition jointly pushed by Democracy for America and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee that has accumulated 50,000 signatures. Further, Martin OMalley, one of Clintons rivals for the Democratic nomination, gave a speech on Wall Street yesterday in which he pledged to close the revolving door and institute a three-year waiting period before government officials at agencies that regulate the financial sector can take jobs in the industry. Fellow Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders has also long been vocal in condemning Wall Street executives joining the federal government.
The article is packed full of quotes, history, factual statements, none of it favorable to HRC. My post has been up not quite 12 hours, and not a single HRC supporter has posted any response, defense, argument.
From the Guardians' comments following the article:
I don't dislike Hilary but I think Bernie Sanders would be better for the country. His policies have been consistent. He does not change according to polls and he is more likely to continue to fight hard for what benefits the American people as he has done for over thirty years. He is not beholden to powerful corporations or individuals. His speeches generate much larger numbers of people and enthusiasm than any other candidate from either side. He has the ability to unite and is creating a revolution in the political system that can transform the country to one that serves the people rather than serving large corporations or the super rich. Bernie Sanders is an honorable, compassionate, decent, intelligent man! A rare commodity among politicians! The American people would be very fortunate to have him as President! Check out this recent speech.

If we want real change for the better in this country Bernie is the one who can do it but only with our help and only if we vote for him in the primaries!

If Bernie Sanders or Martin O'Malley start to rise more in the polls the Clinton people will try and paint them as far left wild eyed radicals. But if you examine the things Sanders and O'Malley stand for they are no different than mainstream Democratic proposals before Bill Clinton took the party to the right and closer to Wall Street. So it makes progressive ideas seem extreme. They are not. What is extreme is the way in which big money interests controls all three branches of government and intends to keep it that way.

I want to like you Hillary. I try hard to talk you up, but you increasingly make it difficult. If you do not have the platform that speaks to democrats, and if Bernie has the platform but may not gain the majority, it favors the the dipsticks on the other side of the aisle, which would be catastrophic for this country. Please get with the program.
