Bernie Sanders

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I started out in the outhouse and by last night I was in the penthouse. I feel I owe an apology to all within and without our group. Nominating campaign seasons are always tough on DU and I got sucked into the angst. But this is not a sprint, it is a marathon and my previous campaign experiences tell me we need to care of ourselves and each other and I fell short of that. Mea culpa.
But I would rather share why I am back, much faster than I thought I would be yesterday morning. In my hometown we had a fantastic We Want Bernie rally at the public library. We filled the room (guessing 75-100 people). We had a videocast with a We Want Bernie senior national staffer. We had a local TV film crew and interview (don't know yet about actual air time). We captured it for a community-based Bernie podcast which has 100,000 sets of ears nationally and a Bernie 2016 tv videocast. We got scads of volunteers for house parties, fundraising, phonebanking, etc. We raised about $1,350. And we got Bernie endorsed by our local state rep, with potentially more local elected official endorsements to follow. The energy and noise in the room was incredible as clipboard people skirted around the room collecting money and the contact info of volunteers.
So I see now that the fault was mine. I'm very happy to say that I feel love for everybody on DU again, both within and without this group. I am more swamped with work than ever, but that is a joyful problem today. I may not post much on here sometimes due to limited time but I intend to remain in this group in spirit until Bernie is the nominee! My favorite part of being on here is reading the successes of others across the nation. It reminds me that working together we can change this nation and the world. Right now I believe we have millions of people who are available to bring into the movement, for the asking. Let's go get'em.

(1,557 posts)Sometimes you just have to walk away and regroup. It happens to everyone, and you have absolutely no need to apologize.

I have always enjoyed your keen sense of humor.
Your organizing sounds like it is really making some progress. You seem to be ahead of what we have gotten done here in Iowa so far. I'm not in the least worried. There is a lot of time yet. I went to the first organizational meeting Monday which included three new staffers. I learned much about the direction this campaign seems to want to go. I think the emphasis is really being put onto the meeting for the 29th. I want to wait until after that meeting to give my thoughts on how I see this working out.
I kńow one thing.......do not wait on Iowa and New Hampshire to see how they play out. This is truly a national contest and it needs to be played out everywhere as quickly as possible. I get the sense that those two states may matter less this time than in the past.
