Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI don't care what the circumstances are, Senator Bernie Sanders has earned respect
From this entire country.
He has served this country faithfully for well over three decades. He has worked tirelessly for the average American. He has done more for Veterans than anyone else in Congress. It is only because of him and his tireless work that the ACA included the provision that $150 million is directly for community health centers across the country. He has introduced bills to end the too big to fail banks. He knows what is going on in the country and he is fighting for all of us. The top 10%, and those that benefit directly from them, in a way we couldn't even imagine, are the only ones that need to fear him.
He is an honest, hardworking man that does great things. He could have easily left political life years ago and made millions. But he has chosen to stay and fight for the underdog. He lives pretty modestly and is a man of his word. How easy and convenient it would be to take corporate money. But that would be disingenuous.
You may not agree with everything he has voted for or against. I don't. But he has earned great respect. He has done nothing to cause that respect to waiver, whether he's your candidate or not.
I will not engage in the BLM/NN conversation anymore. I have said my peace on that. The conversation has become ridiculous IMHO because it's no longer about what it should be. So I'm done with it.
But if I see anyone in the Bernie Sanders Group say, "he has to earn respect" I am blocking. Don't like it, take it up with another host.
Now, please have a lovely evening.

(17,997 posts)Your name reminds me of my grandfather. He used to say, "I'll punch you right in the snot locker!" Jokingly, of course. It always cracked me up as a kid. But I think I was in my 20s before I actually thought about what it meant. It was just a funny sounding word and then I just didn't think about it.
And now you know more than you ever wanted to.

This is why my kids, and their kids can see a Dr when sick-------> "his tireless work that the ACA included the provision
that 150 million directly for community health centers across the country"
~RIGHT THERE~ shows the kind of person Bernie is.

(38,613 posts)There comes a point where one's efforts to refute something only serve to keep it kicked and perpetuated. Especially with people who only wish to perpetuate it.
"The conversation has become ridiculous IMHO because it's no longer about what it should be. So I'm done with it."
Indeed!
He's the best candidate out there. That hasn't changed.

(17,997 posts)Not getting into the who is right or who is wrong. I already posted my thoughts.
But Senator Sanders deserves respect. Hell, there are Republicans, or I should say WERE Republicans, that I respect because of their unending service.
I'll drink to that!

So he's made a start, and we can hope a few more will be added.
Nah, I passed it along to you cause I'm too lazy
I actually passed the link to last week's version to a couple of the Clinton fans, since it covered her PoC staffers then, but I didn't see anyone do anything with it, they probably had me on ignore, heh.

(8,175 posts)Because it's not about racism anymore, and I am not sure it ever was. I personally think it's about silencing Sander's supporters. For no real reason. Cause they really haven't got a leg to stand on when they look at his years of service and dedication to everyone, not just middle class white guys.
Thank you for this thread Mary.
marym625
(17,997 posts)But I have to say that some people are seeing things very differently than that.
Regardless, it's just very sad all around.

(8,175 posts)It's infuriating. They are calling us out on not supporting POC because we are Bernie supporters, and I think we support POC more than they do.

(12,704 posts)As for the fact that Bernie worked to get a provision for 150 million directly for community health centers...
that needs an OP as I don't think it's widely known.

(17,997 posts)But we have too many pinned posts as it is.
Maybe we can convince wendylaroux to do a post on the community health centers. She has experience with it. I think that would be more powerful.
Thank you again!
