More than 1,500 people gathered at a Portland theater Monday for a Democratic rally featuring former presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez.

Sanders and Perez were in Maine to kick off a national tour to attempt to unify a party still stinging from the loss of the White House last November and a primary campaign that divided Democratic loyalists. Sanders’ continuing popularity in Maine – a year after he won the state Democratic caucuses – was obvious by hundreds of the Sanders T-shirts, stickers and buttons in the riled-up crowd.

“I have one question: Are you ready for a political revolution?” Sanders asked the crowd at the State Theater for the “Come Together and Fight back” tour. “Well, you’ve come to the right place.”
