In breakfast talk with delegates Sanders says Local Campaigns are his movement's future

He made the remarks in a breakfast meeting of Wisconsin and other delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

Sanders' White House bid likely will formally dead-end later Tuesday at the convention, at which Hillary Clinton is expected to become the Democratic nominee for president.

In a speech to kick off the convention Monday night, Sanders urged his supporters to back Clinton -- a suggestion some welcomed and others booed.

At a Tuesday morning breakfast for convention delegates from Wisconsin, Montana and Alaska, all of which went for Sanders in their primaries, the independent from Vermont was greeted by chants of "Bernie, Bernie!"

Many of those delegates were wondering what's next for Sanders and the loyal liberal movement he built during the last year.

Sanders hinted at it without providing details.

"Our campaign is going to transition to another organization that is going to support candidates running for school board, for city council, the state Legislature," Sanders said. "Our job is to bring people into the political process around a progressive agenda."

Sanders' campaign didn't immediately respond to a Wisconsin State Journal request to explain what's next. Sanders often has spoken throughout his campaign about the need to elect progressives at all levels of government, not just the White House.

There -is- a path ahead of us... and it seems that Sanders sees that as being inside the party.

Good analysis on Bernie's part. And here's some ideas for those who don't feel they can do that: Ken Burch Jul 2016 #1

1) Work to get electoral reform measures on the ballot(pr for legislative and local government races, measures to distribute elecctoral votes proportionately, instant runoff elections for senatorial and gubenatorial races). A lot of us working within the party will work with you on those. Also, support campaign spending limit measures that could be used to challenge Citizens United in the Supreme Court after we flip it;

2) Work on initiatives for minimum wage increases, limitations on corporate power, and proposals for economic conversion to peaceful use and peaceful employment of military bases(many of which will be closed due to the overall spending cuts that are likely to continue for the next few years);

3) Focus your electoral efforts on winnable local races, such as school boards, the city council seat Kshama Sawant won in Seattle or mayoral contests such as the campaign that brought Bernie into political effectiveness;

they should assent to put in transparency safeguards to ensure they don't do anything similar with downticket candidates. If someone wants to run against an establishment candidate they should receive equal treatment, not favoritism by DNC!

I have some ideas about how to partner our school with disadvantaged students in Detroit that I'm hoping to get other parents to buy into.

Hoping I can get the kids bridging socioeconomic differences at an early age.
