"WV Dems Call for Resignation of DNC Chair" and End to Super Delegates, The Hill, June 11, 2016.
West Virginia Democrats joined in on a call to end the role of unbound superdelegates in the Democratic primary process and also showed support for the resignation of Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
According to reports from the state convention Saturday, delegates passed a resolution urging the DNC to eliminate the "un-democratic and un-American" role of superdelegates or bind them to the results of states' primaries by 2020.
A resolution from a group of Democratic presidential candidate BERNIE SANDERS DELGATES that calls for the resignation of Wasserman Schultz arguing that she has harmed the party by creating distrust in the process and failing to turn out voters also passed.
The resolutions are non-binding, and it is ultimately up to the national party to make any changes to leadership or the process.
Wisconsin Democrats passed a similar resolution in favor of abandoning super delegates last weekend.

(41,168 posts)in playing string music and Appalachian style? The flatfoot dancing and wonderful 19th c. song 'Arkansas Traveler' performed at Miller's Inn porch is beautiful. l love it, the music, atmosphere, spirit and people.
When young I tried the violin and piano but we couldn't continue lessons. I've always appreciated a wide variety of music which runs in the family including several aunts who were quite gifted and trained in piano and voice at the music conservatory in Cincinnati.
My brother started a music company in NYC and my husband played improve keyboards in a band for a while. In Morgantown near WVU I was a DJ in a club for a while which was much fun.

(7,321 posts)learned music by ear, (using the old cassette tapes, replay and replay until I could find the notes that matched) Old timey, Irish and Scottish, started playing fiddle a couple of years later when I realized it was in the same tuning as the mandolin, so I just transferred the finger work over, and struggled with the bowing and intonation but got the hang of it. that was 35 years ago.
still playing and now my granddaughters are learning both instruments and piano, but the oldest is learning to read too, she has that down better than i do! LOL.
my youngest (5 1/2 Year old) is keen on the mandolin and Natalie Maines is her all time idol, knows every single lyric to every track on one of the cd's I forget which one.
We should create a trad music forum over there and talk a lot more about this stuff, I love it!! you can pick it up again! <3 <3 <3

(41,168 posts)days, good on you. Love the sound of mandolin; so cool your grandchildren are also learning to play instruments. I remember the challenges of violin finger work and bow positioning as a child. A close school friend who excelled in academics and music practiced violin every day after school at home for three hours. By HS senior year she won number one in a top regional competition.
In Dublin once we briefly stopped at a small pub right in heart of the Temple Bar district. To my surprise a small band of local musicians and teen Irish clog dancers set up and started performing. It was amazing and authentic as you can get. Unfortunately we departed to search for dinner when an overbearing colleague showed up famished, which 'ate up' the entire evening and we never got to return to the pub. But back home after that trip I saw 'Riverdance', and again the next two summers.
>Yes, songs and musical events could be posted at the other site I agree. ~ Cheers, and "No Music, No Life!"

(7,321 posts)thank you! yes I think it's called the Augusta Heritage Festival, something similar, it's been going on since forever, it's a really a traditional music camp, every week features a different traditional genre, e.g. Cajun, Old Time, Quebecois, Irish, Blues, etc.. I personally am acquainted with many of the masters/teachers who have taught there, but I've never made it out there myself, it's been on my "bucket list".
Thanks for this gem!
