President Barack Obama endorsed an expansion of Social Security for the first time on Wednesday.
The increased benefits, he said, could be paid for by asking the wealthiest Americans to contribute a little bit more. They can afford it. I can afford it.
This was a far cry from Obamas position on the program in late 2012, when his administration argued for reducing Social Security benefits by recalculating the way cost of living adjustments are made.

Low stakes risk: It's the Democratic Party way!
Would like to hear SOS Clinton's take on this.

(6,344 posts)with how things have been with our Democratic moderates/centrists. Their positions have been more republican than democrat. I am very grateful for Bernie and his hard work which is moving the Democratic Party closer to being, the Democratic Party. The party for the people.

(812 posts)I was told he's a single-issue candidate, and it's only for something impossible to achieve.
So what's the deal? This seems quite reasonable and quite achievable. So he must not really be for it.
