The Hill: Drumbeat builds for Clinton press conference

"Pressure is building on Hillary Clinton to hold a press conference as she seeks to wrap up the Democratic presidential nomination.

It’s been 180 days since Clinton’s last open press conference, a fact not lost on the members of the media who cover her, or on Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee.
...

Clinton's last open press conference came on Dec. 4 in Iowa. NBC News reported that she took seven questions."

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/281918-pressure-builds-for-clinton-press-conference

I wonder why she doesn't want to answer unvetted questions publicly?

2. Question 1...Why did you think you're above the law and could have an unsecured private server in
Thu Jun 2, 2016, 06:13 AM
Jun 2016

your basement?

Question 2...Weren't you concerned about revealing state secrets by having an unsecured private server in your basement?

Question 3...Why did you allow TOP SECRET emails to be stored in THE CLOUD giving access to Russia and China?

Question 4...did you not receive millions of dollars in donations to your private Clinton Foundation from Saudia Arabia in exchange for fighter jet deal?

Question 5...why did you tell your staff to remove all classifications from emails before they sent them to you?

Question 6...why did you continue to use your easily hackable Blackberry after the State Dept. IT director told you you could NOT use it?

Question 7...why did you hire unqualified Brian Pagliano to work at the State dept. After he set up your unsecured private server in your basement?

Question 8...why did you delete 31,000 "private" emails from your unsecured private server that was in your basement?

Question 9...why did you allow State Dept. TOP SECRET emails to be comingled with Clinton Foundation emails on your unsecured private server in your basement, which gave your husband and anyone else access to that TOP SECRET information?

Question 10...why did you not have any password protection on your unsecured private server in your basement - which allowed ANYONE access to TOP SECRET STATE DEPT. information?

Question 11...why have you been lying for the last year about being allowed to have an unsecured private server your basement when it was clearly against the LAW?

She will NEVER have a press conference before the convention. She can't.

Questions 9 & 10 are two I hadn't thought about. I don't suppose the Secret Service security detail onsite at Chappaqua could be held responsible for allowing unauthorized users, such as Bill or Chelsea, access to that info.

Sure, she won't be answering your questions at a press conference, but people will still keep dogging her with them, whether she laughs in derision at the very idea people would question her, or not.

7. The Clinton Foundation and Hillary shared the same unsecured server!
Thu Jun 2, 2016, 07:39 AM
Jun 2016

Bill's aid had access to all the information. He's the one who shut the server down TWICEwhen it was being hacked. How did he know it was being hacked? Bill and Chelsea had access to all the State Department information and you can be damn sure Bill utilized that handy information. And, of course, the server and their computers were not password protected.

She broke so many laws, there's no way she won't be indicted. Just having the unsecured server in her basement is a felony.

5. Dec. 4? Really? But her picture keeps appearing in the newspaper!
Thu Jun 2, 2016, 07:06 AM

Could it be that the Corrupt Media is carrying water for her?

Maybe she doesn't have to campaign any more or meet the press, and they'll just carry on on her behalf--and run her campaign from corporate studios, and show old photos and vid clips, and act like everything is normal.

You remember that funny movie, "The President's Analyst," where it turned out that everything was run by a man-like robot who was plugged into a telephone company wall socket?

Modern era would be "The Matrix," I guess. Nothing is real.

I just had a sudden thought: That Bernie Sanders knows what's going on, and, in his astounding energy and optimism in his barnstorming of the enormous state of California--20, 30 big successful rallies in a week, and numerous media interviews, and a Warriors game (what a game!) and a dip in the Pacific, then more travel, more rallies, etc.--unstoppable!--is not really running against Clinton any more; he's running against Biden!

I just did some research and somebody else thought of this before me. A Salon article suggests exactly this (that Sanders is running against Biden/Warren, not Hillary):

http://www.salon.com/2016/06/02/zombie_time_at_campaign_hillary_camille_paglia_on_trumps_real_strength_and_clintons_fatal_sleepwalking/

Now, Clinton did ship herself out here, suddenly, after canceling an appearance in NJ. But I don't know what she's doing here. What is she doing? Bernie got 20,000 to 30,000 people in Oakland, possibly more, on the very day of the Warriors big game, and today got thousands in Monterey, and has had events at all sorts of places in between. Is Clinton making public appearances? Drawing crowds? Getting anything done except a rather cold-ass endorsement by Jerry Brown (no surprise there, at the endorsement or the coldness) and pit stops at rich donors' mansions?

Any clue what she's doing? Is she about to defect to Bali?

Didn't I catch a news bit yesterday or today in which her lawyer said something like, "Hillary Clinton has no obligation to speak to the FBI"?

Dec. 4! That is lo-o-o-ong time ago.

My read of the situation in California is that Bernie is about to enjoy a blowout win here, maybe even bigger than Oregon (which turned out to be by nearly 20%). Why isn't Clinton going crazy with press conferences, and cozy little "town halls," and swift walks through poor neighborhoods trailed by media, illustrating her love for the poor, or at least providing mug shot opportunities with George Clooney (he draws a crowd), or whatever she can do to get publicity?

I get the feeling that either the "fix" is in, or the "fix" is over for her. Either she's purchased access to the 'TRADE SECRET' code (in the voting machines), and really doesn't need to campaign, and knows it, OR she's just making token gestures, at this point, to keep the moolah flowing; her FBI interview did not go well; and they are about to blow her campaign to smithereens with recommendation of an indictment.

OR, she just could be suffering malaise; she doesn't like campaigning; and she thinks it's a wrap, so why exert herself?

Blows off millions of California voters; sinks back into lethargy; thinks Trump will do her work for her, and she can get back on her feet again in the White House and "get things done."

I'm still chewing on "Dec. 4." The article says 180 days since her last press conference. The article's pretty lame, but one Clinton supporter offered the excuse that, "She's just not comfortable in that setting."

Interesting. I had a Clinton supporter here at DU go on and on about how "She's just not comfortable in that setting." But she was talking about big rallies. (Bots had been sniping at Bernie's big rallies; I'd asked, where are Hillarie's rallies?) The supporter said she's more comfortable in "town halls" where she's closer to people and can answer their questions. "Town halls" are largely 'canned,' of course--scripted or vetted questions; highly vetted people; tender moments built in, etc. A very controlled environment. Rallies, not so much. A bird might poop on her head. Press conferences, not at all--they might ask HARD questions. They might ask follow-up questions. They might get a bit raucous.

So,

No rallies.
No press conferences.

Okay, this says that Hillary and Bill are going to do 30 events in 5 days in CA:

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-hillary-clinton-california-20160602-snap-story.html

Shows a photo of Hillary in a coffee shop in NJ. Says nothing about what kind of events in CA. (30 coffee shop breaks?) Doesn't mention press conferences or rallies. Bernie's campaign can call for a rally and in 10 minutes have about 5,000 people show up. (Well...). But this wouldn't work for a Hillary rally. She doesn't like spontaneity. You rarely see her outdoors. Any ruckus makes her "uncomfortable." She likes little tea party-like gatherings of a few women friends chatting about the servants or their errant husbands...

Sorry...

So, she's HERE. And she's "getting things done." 30 events of some kind, probably small, and no press conferences, in 5 days. Not absconding with the moolah to islands west.

It still could be a "Matrix" show. Get some selfies with the coffee shop help. Make a GOTV call, give somebody a thrill. x 30. Go uptown. Pocket some more cash. They're outa here.

Nothing is real.

6. I believe that Hillary thinks press conferences are beneath her.

Simple as that. The Clintons never have to answer, or answer for, anything. Why would she start now? From her point of view, there is nothing good that can come from a press conference, unless it has been carefully staged. with all questions and attendees determined in advance. Right now, no matter what questions are asked, no matter how damning or revealing the answer, there is no consequence, anyway, so why bother. That's my take on it. Any time I could bring myself to watch her, she seems to seethe with anger over being subjected to "people", or being questioned.

at least that's what I always see every time I see her. That, or she's ingratiating herself on her audience. There's nothing in between.

Like Bush, few press conferences and a very scripted White House. Is she going to need a big event, like Bush, to make it all work for her?

Bernie will win California but Hillary will get the remainder of
her needed delegates (perhaps from somewhere other than CA).

So where would that leave us?
