Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumHas Barney Frank lost his mind?
Is he willfully ignorant about Bernie's past or just plain ignorant? Seriously is it more important to have a Jewish DNC chair than possibly our first Jewish President? Does he not know that Bernie's relatives were murdered in the Holocaust?

(14,689 posts)Before I jump to conclusions, I'd like to make sure this is actually his quote. If he did say this, Barney Frank is dead to me. I don't think Frank would be stupid enough to accuse Bernie of "white flight". This sounds like some unhinged internet troll.

You know what Abraham Lincoln said, "Don't believe all those quotes you see on the internet."

He does have a right to say what he wishes, but I saw him on TV the other day and had to shut it off, he was ranting and bullying others on the show. Something is going on.

(7,820 posts)It's my strong impression that's where a lot of the animosity Frank feels towards Bernie comes from. A lot of the Democratic leadership seems to take Bernie's criticisms of the system very, very personally.

And that fact makes a lot of more "traditional" and in-crowd Democrats feel ashamed. People who feel ashamed often strike out in anger in the way that Barney Frank did.

(25,699 posts)Telling that he measures "progressivism" by tokens, too. Would it hurt to note the progressive achievements of these people that Frank is reducing to what's instead of who's?
Granted in DWS' case, that's a list that would be going in reverse...

(41,143 posts)by people like Bill De Blasio and now Barney. To some it seems the meaning is- modern, 21st century, up to date. Hell, there's even a Nordic-KKK group in Arkansas with a website and webcast that uses 'progressive', as I saw from watching one episode of host Kamau Bell's CNN show, 'United Shades of America.' It's Harrison, AR with a 96% white population. That took some planning and hutzpah for him to meet with those disgusting Klan groups.

(41,143 posts)confuse and deceive people the way 'Neo-Liberal' has been attached to free market economics. ~ Got it, the Progressive, ie 'New' Klan, like the 'New' Dems.
Democratic socialism and social democracy as in FDR and Europe is what I prefer and think of when hearing 'Progressive' used today, since Liberal was demonized a while ago. What a mess.
Speaking of messes, good post on Barney. When I worked at a federal agency and his senate office called I was always especially nice to his staff, and I met him very briefly. Gruff is the word, to me anyhoo.

(1,065 posts)Sorry he defined Bernie as white while at the same time defining DNC chair as Jewish.
Worded for his narrative specifically to point out that he was white as if the DNC chair was not.
For this reason alone, he's describing specifically Bernie as white to bring him down thus racist.
I'm not even white and it pisses me off. Look, he could generally make the statement I guess
(though still kinda racist imo, but it'd generally be accepted by people) and it wouldn't be perceived as racist, but he brought DNC chair into this and made it about color of his skin with just him. When they are both Jewish and white.

That's why Bernie is so important. He represents a sea change that we usually only see around twice per century.

Reagan 1980 (52 years later)

Some say it's not good optics to put such a person in charge of our convention, but I think he is in fact the perfect choice to run the convention.

(1,122 posts)that Barney Frank is not a suitable choice to help write the platform of the Democratic Party.
He is not only out of touch but absolutely hostile to Bernie Sandersand he is out of touch and absolutely hostile to the platform of Bernie Sanderss campaign and that over 70 percent of the Democrats No. 1 base in voting-age group, those 1829, carried for Bernie and not Hillary.
Barney Frank is another example of a career politician who needed to go long before he actually did leave Congress.
