Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumCarl Bernstein was on CNN talking about the OIG report
Ouch, that has to have left a mark. He did not mince words, he was all but contemptuous of how that clique acted. We know he is an ultimate insider, and he flat out said even Clinton supporters will admit behind closed doors this scandal has them worried. Apparently it was known this was coming. IIRC he said that inside the administration they are anxious about what this means for Clinton's chances.
This was a few hours ago, if anyone sees a link to it, or anything newer with Bernstein talking about it, please post it.
P.S. Breaking news, Clinton responds, I'm listening and it was short and ignored the issues. She has no story.

I think there are going to be some leaks that are going to be very damaging to Hillary Clinton, Bernstein said. Look, what she did was an act of recklessness, and entitlement, that theres no excuse for. And shes going to have to go up to the FBI, under oath, and explain why she did this.

(39,451 posts)Even if nothing comes out of this it takes away from the issues and weakens her if she became the nominee.

I wonder how many of them would have been so forceful speaking up for her if they would have known the FBI investigation was underway.
Not a lot of people have the temerity to run for public office after they learn the FBI is investigating them.
Certainly not for the White House.

But this wasn't even a slap on the wrist, it was a scolding. Clinton, as an attorney interested in issues of defense-especially her own- realizes this.
Her teams game will be to minimize the significance of the OIG report, which I suspect will mostly mean trying to ignore that it was reported.

(5,400 posts)As HereSince1628 implies, there's motivation to just ignore this. It's just not doable for even a David Brock to marginalize Carl Bernstein. He's the more liberal one of the Woodward and Bernstein team. (The Dustin Hoffman to the Robert Redford)
He helped expose the shenanigans of Watergate, and the Clinton team doesn't want to remind anyone that the guy who helped expose Nixon's lies has contempt for their lies.
