Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI think the Clinton campaign has now definitely burnt its bridges with its base
The Clinton campaign has mostly old Democrats and a lot of money but no supporting base.
Fixing the election and being unfair to supporters of another candidate is not the way to maintain or build bridges.

(41,146 posts)the Nevada fracas, the sources and the media spin is pretty disgusting. Sick of this, like the computer mess and more.

(28,627 posts)they have tried every trick in the book to stop us and this is going to backfire too. Their spinning is orchestrated. I was talking to some friends from other countries yesterday and they are appalled.

(41,146 posts)in large nos. at political conventions in the 2000s, outside scenes mostly- NYC GOP, Ron Paul counter/indy convention, etc. She added a few blasé statements that the Clinton and Sanders tensions will work out, and that protest is part of the system and not a glitch. No apology, explanation or real direct reference to the Nevada incident, just making things like this seem ordinary. Hah! The damage is done.
Not surprised your overseas friends are appalled. Bernie did seem a little extra fired up in his speech last night in CA. Don't know if this garbage impacted him or I had it on my mind. He has the patience of a very wise man, many couldn't do it.
~ Now she has on prospective VP Sen. Tim Kaine of Va. discussing Obama's SC selection; he will make sure Clinton is the next pres. Nothing about his rebuke of Bernie's statement last night that I caught.

(11,175 posts)I certainly think that many Clinton supporters are acting in a short-sighted way. Feelings are running high, and they're acting in ways that will hurt Clinton's chances if she's the nominee.
The good news, though, is that it's still only May. Tempers will cool. Unfortunately, that's true on the red team as well. If the matchup is Clinton versus Trump, Democrats who don't like Clinton will come to realize how much they detest Trump, and Republicans who don't like Trump will come to realize how much they detest Clinton.
Yes, there's been some bridge-burning. I predict that both the Libertarians and the Greens will improve on their 2012 performances because they'll pick up some people who normally support one of the major parties but who are still holding grudges from the nomination fight. Still, with the passage of a few months, most people will put that behind them.
The jury results are below. (I was Juror #5.) As a side note, one very common whine in the Hillary Clinton Group is how those evil Sanders supporters are deliberately cruising the HCG looking to alert on everything they can, part of the general pattern of harassment and stalking, and why can't they leave our protected group alone, boo hoo hoo. It sure looks to me as if this alert was from a Clinton supporter bent more on making trouble than on keeping DU conversation civil.
On Wed May 18, 2016, 09:52 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
I think the Clinton campaign has now definitely burnt its bridges with its base

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
The comments made by the poster are untrue, inflammatory, because it directly accuses Clinton of cheating to win, and it suggests that the only people who support her are old.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed May 18, 2016, 10:28 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Tired of the smears. Knock it off.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Very silly alert. It says that the campaign has acted unfairly, which doesn't equal cheating and which is mild compared to what gets thrown around these days at both campaigns. When the post says that Clinton supporters are "mostly old" and the alert reads that as "the only people who support her are old," I can't take it seriously. Mostly does not mean only and in fact implies the opposite.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: First of all this is not an election. It's called a Primary. There is a difference.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(28,627 posts)you could say that people once they come back from the beach in late August they will fall into line. However things are different this time round. I don't think that we have ever seen such an 'uprising'
PS. I'm not worried about the super alerters here.
