(5,141 posts)Though I think the fissures in the party are deeper than they appear (i.e.I'm not so certain they can be patched up after the primary is over) props to Skinner for the truth bomb!

(15,715 posts)The admins made a mistake by announcing at the start that they were for HRC. This allowed a certain group of people to believe that they could get away with anything as long as they were on the admin side.

Folks, please, it's a message board, not your mom, dad, significant other or child. And you do have other "homes," some of which even have hidden forums where you can vent.

So does the board for jackasses. (Cautionary tale in what not to name your board.)

Well as Hillary has learned things that are on the net don't always go away as fast as you'd like them to. Just something for us all to remember.

(53,475 posts)Glad to see the jury system is being tossed.
I can dig why they tried it out to begin with, but it's time to go back to what worked the best - moderators! Time for someone to scrub out the hot tub and fill it back up!

(6,119 posts)Nothing was "stacked". Bernie supporters far outnumber Hillary supporters on this site, plain and simple. That Hillary supporters feel outnumbered and not represented in a way that reflects what is going on in the primary should be no surprise. The only way to make DU even or lean Hillary is for Skinner to put a thumb on the scale. If that happened in real life, we could end up with the less supported candidate getting the nomination.
Oh wait.
LiberalElite
(14,691 posts)"after the primaries we're all on the same side"? or we "don't belong".... HMMM......
corkhead
(6,119 posts)Once the primary is done, there will be a choice between only 2 candidates that have a chance of winning the Presidency. If you support the wrong one or agitate against the the election of the not quite as bad one, you don't belong here. I am no Hillary fan, but I don't want to see The Donald in the Oval Office.
I will be making a decision in the fall as to whether she will need my vote to win and I don't expect that she will get it unless my state is in play and that the Presidency is up for grabs. That said, I am not going to try to sabotage her candidacy if she wins the nomination. Anyone who does probably doesn't belong on this site.

(6,119 posts)I am just in the school that believes if we end up being stuck with the choice of Trump or Hillary, one or the other is going to win no matter what we do. I am still hoping that we are not stuck with that choice. As disgusted as I will be if those are the two we have to pick from, I am not in the "bring the revolution sooner" camp and nor is the owner of a website that in its bylaws says it exists to support Democrats.
Should Hillary survive all the scandal and manage to secure the nomination, I think we will be much better off as a country hammering her as President from the left than we will be trying to get a President Trump to do the right thing.
peace.

I don't support anyone who represents everything I abhor.
DU will be a very quiet place if Clinton succeeds in stealing this election. 90% of the members here support BERNIE!

(45,251 posts)In theory, if you are more numerous on the board, you are likelier to be picked on a jury. However, I have seen quite a few jury decisions that have gone in favor of Hillary supporters, some with really awful posts. And, conversely, I have seen jury decisions that have gone against Bernie supporters that should not have. So, something besides strict numbers is going on.
corkhead
(6,119 posts)and I am not on DU that much. I saw that others are saying that they are not being selected to be on juries and I am just saying from my personal experience there has been no change for me and if anything I wouldn't be surprised if I was on more juries in April than any other month since they started. It could be just that random doesn't always look that way. I am not ruling out the possibility of shenanigans, but it could just be simply the law of averages. When you flip a coin 100 times it doesn't always land 50/50.

(45,251 posts)I don't alert much. However, a couple or three times, I've alerted and heard zero back. No "you alerted on a post that was alerted on" pm no "results of your alert" pm, no nothing.
There was also a post that took over three hours to jury. So, I have seen some odd things.
corkhead
(6,119 posts)while a jury is out or when you alert on something, you don't hear back.
You are right about the jury pool, I didn't know that until I saw this post after I wrote reply #45:

(45,251 posts)In that circumstance, I should get the "you alerted on a post that was already alerted on" and the poster should be banned if I look again. In the circumstances I'm talking about, neither of those things happened. In no instance was the poster I alerted on a newbie either; and newbies are MIRT's jurisdiction.
I'd also like to know why a post took over three hours to jury.

(32,062 posts)I can respect that.
I have a feeling I will have to leave after convention. That is ok, we all have to do what is best for each of us (realizing that I live in TX - aka hell - and no one I support is going to get elected to anything down here so if I want to protest vote I will).
I do think the mod system was much better (and I say that as someone who joined in 2008 and never moderated at this site).
I don't have a problem with the admins, just don't agree with them on their candidate.
Take care, all.
