Can you imagine what it would be like to hold an adult political conversation?

Here on DU? With liberals and progressives free to express themselves about the news of the day, about issues and personalities and so on, and without bitter, sarcastic, juvenile, insulting attacks from other members? And especially without paid trolls whose main tasks are to deflect and disturb?

I have been on that kind of a message board before. Everyone was interesting, and civil, and goal oriented. There was a team spirit and camaraderie. We were liberals and progressives, and we actually got things done.

Wouldn't it be grand to have harmony prevail?

not feeling very good about it. The juvenile, insulting remarks have an extremely dispiriting effect after only a short while. It actually seems to be getting increasingly worse even over just the short time I've been on here. It would be grand to have informed discussion prevail. I don't mind people expressing anger over the policies and records of a candidate that they do not support; however, the majority of the juvenile, insulting attacks have nothing to do with the policy positions or political records of candidates. Reminds me of those "reality TV" type daytime talk shows that used to be all the rage in the 1990s.

The Republicans who weren't crazy enough to survive their party's purge took over our party.

The party is having an identity crisis, and will be changed irrevocably when the convention comes along. DU will not survive in current form either.

What we were was awesome. What came after "winning" destroyed that.

I ignore all comments on both sides against the opposing candidates because I know many of them are being made out of anger and without a lot of thought.

DU needs a "time-out" room where some could go to cool off. Across the nation, school's out in the next few weeks and I think the sandpiles should be closed on DU, as well. Take a vacation from the nasties and come back prepared to join together again with one goal...elect a Democratic POTUS.
