Calling Bill Maher on his bullshit.

On his latest show, Maher read this polling result with two questions for Berniecrats: 1) Would you be in favor of free public college tuition if it meant paying $1,000 extra in taxes?; and 2) Would you be in favor of universal single payer if it meant $1,000 extra in taxes? Maher said Berniecrats responded against raising taxes. The first question has a false premise. Bernie pays for public college with a speculation tax on Wall Street, of course. No raise on taxes except for filthy rich hedge fund parasites.

The second question was framed improperly. "Would you favor paying $1k in taxes for a net benefit of $2.5k by eliminating your health insurance premium?" Caveat, I don't know the average net out-of-pocket savings.

This is effectively push polling if Maher's rendition of the questions is accurate. I wonder who did the poll he is referring to. David Brock? Corporate Media? Same difference.

or he just doesn't think how to present the questions. And he's not alone! The god damned Grover Norquist mindset that's saturated American's tiny brains is simply: NO NEW TAXES! Doesn't matter if it's actually a tax SAVINGS when it's all ironed out.... ya said the boogie word and that's what I heard!
I kinda suspect the reason the younger folks "get it" is that they haven't had DECADES of cranial drubbing with GOP BULLSHIT!

and something else, can't remember exactly what, made me wonder at one point if he was really as liberal as he likes to think he is, if he really is a Bernie supporter, or if he just wants people to think he is for whatever reason.

I decided to cut him off. No more Bill. Not only did he cut them off
he looked at both of them with complete contempt. Both of them remained
silent the rest of the show. I thought why did you agree to come on his show?
I found him to be really insulting and will never watch him again.

basically said solar and wind are great but we have to use nuclear and fracking for the time being. Maher did not have the presence of mind to point out that Germany belies that myth. Germany is predominantly solar and wind now in national energy use, I believe, and are making rapid gains toward virtually complete green energy.

The last show pissed me off too. Belittling Bernie, saying he should quit, etc etc. I don't understand these people who are supposed to be enlightened free-thinkers, always calling for change, but then pulling their heads back in the sand when they have a real chance to actually be progressive.

Hubby and I have to purchase health insurance as he is no longer employed by the job that paid ours. Our extremely basic plan will coast us 600+ per month.

And there isn't a thing we can do about it, except look for a new job. Obama screwed us big time with this system. The country will now never get out from under the insurance companies.

So, he managed to piss off a whole lot more than half. I am sure some Hillarians stopped watching when they saw how much Maher likes Bernie, now he is going after pissing off Bernie fans. I rarely catch him unless someone puts up a clip on social media.
