is, why participate in a skit that is (a) extremely lame and unfunny and (b) has racist overtones?

that politicians did. If they were live on TV, it was for something considered dignified then, like MTP (which now would be properly classified as farce).

His popularity went up after he appeared. No one looked too deeply into the difference between causation and correlation. It seemed to have helped him and, apparently, that is enough for any politician. So, pols don't refuse to appear on comedy shows anymore, even if Tina Fey is present and dressed to look like him or her.

The theory was that the appearance "humanized" him.

... but this was a private event - all supporters.

It seems like a bunch of power-tripping moneyed interests effectively saying, "See how powerful we are. We can make political leaders literally preform for us."

I saw the skits and she was quite scripted and fake, why is she pretending to be bad at it? I am on to you Hillary, playing as an outsider candidate that is "not a politician" but has more experience and is more qualified acting in a play and acting like you can't act! Best performance ever! If she doesn't win the election she gets my vote for an Emmy! I kid, I kid. What I really don't like is the fake laughing, it matches her laughing in debates and such that seem fake, and it does make it harder to ignore. So I do think it takes away from her a bit. No one had topped Obama in his ability to actually come off as real and as funny. I will miss that part most. Nothing made the day better than seeing him on Colbert or the Daily show, or Between Two Ferns, or Maron (that one was less funny and more just honest and real).

and make her seem more human. It comes across about as genuine as her fake laugh.
