after 14 years of never having done that.

I'm beginning to think that a bunch of others now have me on ignore (hooray!) because they never seem to comment on my posts any more.

even periodically someone would brag about how many members they had on Ignore.

It worked for a long time because I'd learned to (lower case) ignore certain DUers. Then this primary season hit. In my opinion certain posters are so childish, so over the top, so rude, that nothing they can possibly say will be important to me. There are a few more who probably will get put on the list, although I've noticed I'm not seeing very many posts by them, so not sure if some of them are on time outs or less active, or what.

Just my take on things.

They used to be called "lurkers." Maybe they still are. It's not a very pretty name. But it just means people looking for information--likely for voting info, currently. I'd bet there are lots and lots and lots of lurkers right now. And if they see some of the bullshit and lies posted here against Sanders, with no one contesting it, they may go away with a lot of disinformation.

I know it's aggravating. Some Clinton supporters are just into "sticking a fork in" us. But I find the spirited replies from our extraordinarily well-informed DUers heartening, and I think lurkers will, too.

If you can't stand it, then of course put them on "ignore." Don't get an ulcer over it! But know that you are sacrificing a chance to educate and inform. It's not that different from knocking on doors in a canvassing project for a particular primary, or phone-banking. Whatever foul, mean or repetitive, boring thing gets posted here is a chance to make your pitch for Sanders.

I'm one of the people who comes here mostly for news, but I've been participating more since the primaries and my use of the ignore/trash buttons.

I don't know about other people, but my pre-primary season surf habits were having my DU bookmark lead to the first page of the "latest threads" section, not the front page. Normally, I only have about 15-20 minutes to spend when I log on here (I work from home and am on the internet a lot for that). I normally would come on here 3-4 times a day, but in one 15-minute "session", I can only scan/read the first 2-3 pages of posts in "Latest Threads" ... so I often don't see the threads that were posted and sank because of no responses.

I never had anyone on ignore until this primary season. I had to because it became impossible to even FIND news through all the bull****. I still find out about "what the other side is doing" even after getting rid of most of Camp Weathervane.

And I try to check Latest Breaking News and General Discussion to get non-primary news.

I give you credit for trying to refute their bull ... my blood pressure can't take it ... and I agree with the OP that the ignore/trash buttons turn this into a much more liberal-leaning DU.

We have to shoot down every one of their ridiculous arguments.

And it's actually kind of easy.
