Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumAnd right on cue - here comes the spin on Bernie's townhall at the Apollo.
Do you ever feel like you live in an alternate universe? I saw a moving and deep conversation about where this country is heading and why we need change.
But the NYT saw it as.... The Headline:
And the opening paragraphs:
At a campaign event in Harlems Apollo Theater, which ended with a protester interrupting the Vermont senator with anti-Semitic remarks, Mr. Sanders was asked about Mr. Clintons recent confrontation with Black Lives Matter protesters over the term used by Hillary Clinton in 1996 to describe gang members.
The rest is better, but of course they just had to use that headline as if that was the most important part of this evening.
Here's the link if you want to read the entire piece.

(14,177 posts)Of course it makes it seem like Bernie was an angry old man railing against the Clintons for the entire time. But, that's okay he did come out strong against what Bill Clinton said. Not as strong as I would like he insists on being a gentleman and not using bad words or being a rage monkey.

(14,177 posts)I double dog, no I triple dog dare them. If they rant about it that will make them look bad and it will make Bernie look good for taking on that POS Bill Clinton.

(9,688 posts)I've been going to it all night, and I find that what Belafonte says is fascinating in its pithiness.
I guess nobody at the NYT understands.
Pity.

(9,688 posts)He explained it in terms of the racist inhumanity of the European colonialist drive that "won the west".
He was exact and true.
Wow, what a gulf between that and the US cowboys vs indians pop culture.

How so many can fall for this propagand and bullshit is simply beyond me.

(24,411 posts)is making it appear as though Bernie is initiating attacks.
So, this positions Hillary as the victim, and it will also make it ok for them to lie about him about whatever they decide to lie about.
Bernie just has to accept that the corporate-establishment media is going to do everything they can to help the corporate-establishment candidate win.
That's just the way it is.
He's not going to get fair treatment. In fact, the media is going to be used as a weapon against Bernie.
We just have to work hard to get our message out. So many people don't pay attention to what the MSM says. Make phone calls for Bernie in New York. Find out how you can help. We need to be proactive and positive and work to make this happen for Bernie.
The media will never be fair to Bernie. They just won't.

(1,523 posts)There is an old proverb about someone digging a hole for someone else to fall in, but the hole digger ends up falling in the hole themselves. This is what happen here. The Times wrote an article to make Bernie Sanders to look bad, but it is the times that ends up coming out bad in this. The reason is they are coming out on record supporting Bill Clinton's racist rant. Not only that it shows just how much of a lie the whole, "Sanders and his supporters are racist" meme was, when you have Bill Clinton saying things that are actually racist.
