Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumAm I the only one who doesn't find this "leak" to be very threatening?
The whole tough talk of "Disqualify him" and "Destroy him and unify the party later" and "We're running out of patience" -it's all very contrived. It doesn't have much of a dramatic effect when CNN anchor picks up on it like a good little dog, so coincidentally en route from WI loss to NY primary.
"Disqualify him"?
As if they didn't wanna do that all along? As if they haven't tried and failed already. They seem to be pretending that they just failed to pay attention and Bernie wasn't on their radar; that they could have disqualified him anytime if they wanted to, and Bernie has had his success only because they've let him. Oh please. At least a few dozens of her surrogates and minions have been coming at him since last summer about him being a socialist (gasp). Remember? David Brock came at him with Venezuela oil thing since as early as June or July, I think. And it didn't stick.
"Destroy him and unify the party later," was it?
Hey, they got all the sleazy Washington hacks and sycophants on their side, so they can try and dig dirt all they want. By all means, have at it. But the problem is, the man doesn't have much dirt on him(which, by the way, Hillary has a whole lot).
Just look what's happening right now. They're re-hashing 2015 meme -Bernie has blood on his hands because guns, to which I say, well, please go ahead and try. It certainly destroyed him the last time they did that.
You can try to destroy a person, but you can't destroy a message, which is catching on. That's what they're missing. They thought everything will be hunky-dory for Hillary if they got Elizabeth Warren out of the race. Because they saw only a person. But it's her message that's not going away. Right now, they see a person again and it's Bernie. And his message is not going away.
And as for "unify the party later," may I just say as a millennial female POC, I just can't wait to get behind a candidate whose surrogate called me a slut who has nothing on her mind except chasing boys. After being threatened and condemned to hell by her surrogate (and she didn't denounce it), you can bet all the millennials are gonna joyously back Hillary. After being condescended to by the candidate herself and called low-information voters, they're all gonna love her and support her with great enthusiasm. Yeah. That's gonna happen.
Again, they're pretending that they've been holding back because they cared about party's unity. They're pretending they have been gracious and decent when they have been anything but.
"We're running out of patience"?
No. They're running out of money. And that's pissing them off.
She has to constantly attend extravagant fundraisers when Bernie's attracting tens of thousands of supporters in what she considers to be her home turf.
What should have been an ominous threat came off very staged in its delivery, and vacuous in its argument.
Anything can happen in NY, but whatever that may be, this empty threat is not gonna have much to do with it.
They're not gonna stop throwing dirt on Bernie, but for some reason, I'm not very worried about it.

(14,177 posts)No you aren't the only one. I actually find it amusing. If that is the path Hillary wants to go down I am sure we can find a library full of reasons she shouldn't be President.

(1,890 posts)You are correct. She has been running a negative campaign from the beginning. They have had every possible advantage handed to them on a silver platter and yet the more voters hear from Hillary the more turned off they become. The more they hear from Sanders the more excited they become. She is making herself into a cartoon character.
