Has any state that forced provisional ballots on their voters, counted them?

(3,577 posts)Provisional ballots have been fairly rare, used only when voters who were registering didn't have their driver's license number or registered by mail without a proof of residence document and didn't have one when they showed up to vote. Now that we have voter ID, that will probably cause more provisional ballots. The voter has to bring in whatever is missing, either to the polls by 8 pm on election day or to the municipal clerk by the Friday after. They do count them.

(2,125 posts)Provisional ballots are only counted if the result of the "official" votes at the polls being too close to call or close within a certain percentage. I believe that is the case in AZ. If you weren't registered Dem (R or Green) then your provisional ballot wouldn't be counted. There were something like 1.3 million people disenfranchised because of their registration did not correctly reflect their party affiliation.

(39,451 posts)Those provisional ballots need to be counted regardless.
I think that's why they called the race for Hillary about 30 seconds after the polls closed and no matter how many precincts came in, the spread stayed exactly the same. They don't want those provisional ballots to be counted.

(39,451 posts)still in line voting!!
Why couldn't they just say - Hillary is winning by a large margin right now but there are people still in line voting. ???
Why?
We will never know how many people went home after hearing that & looking at the lines that went on for miles.
Many people probably felt, why bother, my vote won't matter, not understanding delegates which most people do not.
Bernie and Cruz were winning in the morning according to the exit polls. That's all I know.

(517 posts)That is the only remedy to this outrageous injustice. Even then, a lot are disenfranchised.

The states involved were Georgia, Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and in an update, North Carolina also, for a net change of 6 delegates moving from Hillary to Bernie.
