Related: About this forumSorry guys I am leaving the group.
I been made aware that I don't know wtf I am talking about. I have been accused of posting right wing crap about Hillary, so I won't post anything any more in regards to the Presidential election. I do best posting things about Asia, and though I love and will support Bernie, I won't be leading the charge any longer with articles from Twitter or the internet about Bernie. Thank you very much for your supportive messages, when I found good stuff to post about Bernie, but now consider me the first causality in this battle. I am done. I have removed myself from the group, thanks for allowing me post.

(19,537 posts)They may try to make you "right wing" by post links, but you know and we all know that your heart is in the right place. If something really is a right wing group that is posting something against Hillary, etc. and you aren't aware of their "allegiance", it wasn't your intent to empower the right wing. But if they post something that seems close to the truth and that it reflects factual events, etc. then those that are responsible for those events that are distasteful, even if noted by a right wing source are more at fault than the right wing rag that's taking advantage of those truths being out there.
The corporate media is being "respected" as a neutral source when it isn't! Perhaps we should all complain as well when everyone posts corporate media links since they push corporate mantra on to us too and we really shouldn't be accepting that either. Same logic.
I think if you like others here post articles that reflect what appear to be the truth and are what you can find from other sources too that look to be based in fact, then they really can't fault you for what you are doing.
People feel threatened by people like you, because you are upsetting the apple cart that they and those that also like the corporate agenda want to have keep power. Don't let them get to you! In the end, we'll win, and everyone will be better off, and so many people will be thankful for you diligence in trying to look for the truth for us all here when it is hard to find these days.

Ignore them, most DUers have them on ignore anyhow.
All they ever do is search for something to stop conversation about the content. They constantly 'question' sources, but when asked if the INFORMATION is correct, they will not respond.
I'm sure nearly everyone here could name them they do it so often.

(62,325 posts)by some of them. They SHOULD be banned for their personal attacks, it is a shame they are tolerated here.
But I never liked bullies so won't tolerate their bullying by allowing them to win.
Anyone who calls anyone good DUer a hater here should be banned. But sadly for whatever reason on this 'progressive, liberal forum' they are tolerated while good Dems are run off, banned, or just don't want to deal with the nastiness anymore.
I understand and won't try to persuade you to do something that is so personally upsetting. It used to affect me the same when I first started interacting with Bush supporters. They were so nasty I remember crying one day, wondering what I had to elicit such nastiness from them. Then I got mad and not only stayed, but it helped make me tougher. It was like going to political boot camp. To be honest what goes on here reminds me of them. And it's a shame, we should have higher standards on this forum.
Take care and I hope you will change your mind and post in this forum where they cannot get away with the nastiness but if you don't I understand.

We all know that Mrs. Clinton, and Bernie have opposing views on MANY things. We all know that Mrs. Clinton and Bernie have DONE opposing things when it came to a specific issue.
You need to be a little tougher, and just bear what the others may be saying.
I have seen an awful lot of supporters of Mrs. Clinton post nasty comments here, and wish that the moderators in this room would do what the moderators did to me in Mrs. Clinton's room when I posted one opposing view. They kicked me out.
Such a strong supporter of our next president is really needed here, if we are to have any ammo to thwart the onset of insults that is coming from the supporters of Mrs. Clinton.

You guys will have my support as will Bernie..but I am done posting about stuff I don't know.. so you guys who are older and know what to post, I will learn from you by reading your articles ... But I have lost confidence that I know anything about Presidential politics.
global1
(25,270 posts)the only way you will get a higher post count is to keep posting. That's how I got my post count. And yes - when I'm off base in my posting - other DU'ers tell me, flame me, dump on me - but that goes with the program. That's the way this thing works and it goes with the territory. Sounds like you find things out there on the Interwebs and post them and as anyone that posts something here - that provides additional info which we might not have had should it not have been posted.
Are some of the sources suspect? Maybe - but until someone tells me that the source is slanted - I may have never learned that and learning that would make me just that much more knowledgeable and smarter than before. If it turns out to be a RW site and I didn't know that - at least when I'm talking to my RW friends - I can sift through their BS - because I now know where they got their info.
The fact that you are a member of DU to me means that you are more aware and knowledgeable about Politics than most Americans. Don't get down on yourself. Don't give up.

(4,775 posts)I just skimmed the article and read post 76. The poster may have had a valid point about the source, I don't know that source and would be hesitant to use one I don't know at least a little.
But Hillary is no great advocate for human rights, she actually has a very spotty record on those issues, including but not limited to U.S. interventions and coups in other nations where the rights of the people who live there are secondary to corporate interests. And the article you posted looked to me to be fairly accurate re her recent changed position on gay rights.
I don't write many OPs, pretty much none really. On the other hand, others here seem to enjoy the battle of the keyboards and the back and forth dueling. That's not everyone's preference. Anyway, glad you shared this with us and it's regrettable. Stay well and if you return we will be delighted!
Last weekend an OP I put up here casually was immediately attacked as I was on the way out to a family affair. When I returned hours later I saw where others here had got involved in the thread. I don't remember his name now, but I latched on to him as a fan right away. The thing is he couldn't make it as a major league player, he struck out constantly, he dropped balls and muffed plays. I remember one day, the coach called him in and off the field he went. We never saw him again. I read later that he was sent back down to AAA.
I was heart broken. Why was he not good enough to be in the Bigs, he could have improved, he could have been great, but the coach sent him back. Now I know how he feels.. some times you gotta give the ball to someone else and get the fuck off the field. Baseball cards were only meant for major league players..and their fans.

(19,537 posts)... and I might disagree with him on many other things that Libertarians believe and I don't.
But in my book he IS a hero for what he did in exposing so much wrongdoing in our intelligence service operations in this country, and those that just try to use the "Libertarian" label to dismiss him are basically ignoring the ugly truths that even infect the Obama administration as much as they infected the Bush administration. We have to be above that and look at articles and individual acts like Snowden's to judge on. Many out there might have other actions that they have done wrong, but I judge them for what their general body of work is and what dominates what they do. Much as I hate what FDR did to Asian Americans in keeping them in detention camps during WWII, the lion's share of other things he's done for this country still has me so thankful for what he did. I don't just push those acts aside though, and I will remind others that try to treat him more than the human being he was, that he was also capable of big mistakes like that as well, and that we shouldn't forget them and repeat them in the future.
Context is everything! Don't let these people going after you deter you from your mission of helping us all build a better world! I believe in you as many of us here do too!
yuiyoshida
(41,861 posts)FDR sent Japanese to those detention camps. Chinese people helped them identify Japanese people. Koreans never went either. Maybe my family was lucky being in Hawaii..and part Native Hawaiian or they would have been there as well.
Secondly I am out of my league. I am just a minor league player in a major league game, and I have bobbled the ball too many times, and struck out far more times than I can count. I don't need to be in this game..I need to be back running my Asian Group and posting about the one thing I truly know about, Asia... and news items from Asia. I can do no good here..there are far, far more superior political minds here that know what they are doing, and won't make the rookie mistakes I have made.
cascadiance
(19,537 posts)back in the 60's, not too long after Obama was born there. It was a great place there! I also lived two years right after that in Bangkok, Thailand too during the Vietnamese War then. I discovered some truths of some of the people my dad worked with personally there from watching the film "Citizen Stan" that has me feeling bad of what happened there as a result of some of their actions. I wish I could have found that out earlier in life to have a good discussion with my Dad then before he was completely down with alzheimers and died not long afterwards.
The problem is if everyone feels that they can't be a part of the poltiical process because they are "minor league". That is why we have failures like those we elected here in Oregon who I have met and talked to personally on a number of occasions and can't really understand why they voted the way they did today. That is what is motivating me to take a more active role to help us find other solutions and not just "bless" those that are "major league" above us (if they really are "above" us).
It is the way they stop Democracy when they try to push down people like you and me down the ladder from trying to take an active role in public critiquing what is going on when we and so many others are frustrated now. Don't let them beat you down. You are better than what they are trying to push you down as. Many here posting are saying the same thing I am here.
I have in the past also unknowingly at times posted articles from "right wing" sites by mistake. Often times, they weren't really bad articles.
Sibel Edmonds has always been a hero to me. She sometimes sides with Libertarians too, but she always looks for us to know more the truth of what happens behind the scenes in Congress and the White House and in our intelligence agencies. I have had personal contact with her too (to the point that there are a few frames of a web site I helped build content for in a couple of frames of the film that was made about her in France), and even though she's shared what some consider damaging information about what she claims to have seen about investigations of Jan Schakowski, who I also really like as a congresswoman, and that others have critiqued her heavily her about, I feel that it was Schakowsky that missed out on an opportunity to go after those that investigated her, instead of what Sibel Edmonds said about them. I can understand why she wanted some of that information kept private of hers, but I think in that mess the wrong people got blamed too. It's going to take a lot of courage these days to fight the PTB that are abusing their powers. That's also why Julian Assange is hiding in the Ecuadorian embassy in London as well too to keep him from being pushed in to a situation with Sweden too that is being used to "keep him quiet".
She used to post here too on DU a while back before the Schakowsky thing happened. I wish she'd still post as well, as we're in times that I'd like to hear her take on Edward Snowden here as well. Not having her take (and in my book she IS the big leagues in that arena) is also bad too.

(1,754 posts)For what it's worth, I really enjoy your posts (both the ones about the presidential race and the ones about Asia). I don't post very often either - often for the same reason. I don't feel like I know enough (about many subjects) and I don't like arguing. It is disheartening to see posters that I have liked and respected for many years suddenly seem so unhinged. It seems the primaries are bringing out the worst in people on DU. Hopefully things will get better after the primaries but I fear I will not be able to regain some of the respect I once had for some DUers.

But please come back. I value your posts. We value your posts.
We need to fight back against the STFU and vote bullies that a few of HRC's supporters are.

(17,997 posts)Don't let them get to you. .you are safe here. And it doesn't stop your post from being read. It doesn't stop the information from getting out there. It does stop the harassment.
We need you

(45,251 posts)I don't think anyone who is a supporter of Sanders accused you posting right wing crap, did they?
If you don't want to post about the election in GD, I understand that, but I don't understand why behaviors of GD posters would cause you to leave this group.
Whatever you do though, I respect your final decision, but I would be sorry to see you leave the group, especially because of something that happened in GD.

(6,409 posts)It's not just the Sanders group. Most groups are nothing but echo chambers, where no real discussion occurs. Egos and personalities reign supreme. It's like being in a cult or something. I visit the groups once in a blue moon, make some kind of mild comment or suggestion, and get threatened with a ban. I am permanently banned from the Barrack Obama group because I suggested they should accept some constructive criticism of the presidents actions. I did not make any criticism, merely suggested it might be OK. When told to get lost, I pointed out they weren't being consistent with their Statement of Purpose, and -- poof! -- I was gone. The groups could be interesting, but they seem to be dominated by those who just need continuous and unconditional reinforcement.

(41,861 posts)I was posting here and in GD at the same time. If I found an article, that seemed legit, I would post it but now, I in GD I was labeled a "Hillary Hater" (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026883780#post102) and I won't wear that crown.
I am done with Presidential Politics. My specialty has been about Asia, and news and culture there. I will stay in that zone, and no longer venture out on promoting a candidate.

(4,490 posts)I'm sorry some of the bullies here have driven you from posting about Bernie Sanders, I usually enjoy your posts when I come across them regardless of subject. Asia is a big important subject too, and something I'm interested in so I'm glad you will still find something to discuss here.
I'm still figuring out how best to support Bernie in my own way, so I hope I can make up for the loss in some manner.

(41,861 posts)Real Democrats do they? Using vile names, and making accusations of people they don't agree with calling them Right Wing Republican trolls. The thing is, I could put those messages to a jury and it would be dismissed. "She's just being overly sensitive!!"
