She's Running For Congress! She's Emulating Bernie by Refusing to Take Corporate $$. Can We Help?

Bernie is going to need a truly Progressive Congress most of whom will agree with him regarding getting the poisonous money out of our politics.

So it is essential that while we support him we also support actual Progressive Dems For Congress and the Senate who are in sync with his political goals.

Hers is one candidate who I think would be a huge asset to him if she wins the seat she is running for in Congress!

Angie For Congress

If you'd like to help me get started on this journey, please send me any size donation to my paypal account by clicking the link and sending to the email address listed here:

angelamarx4congress@gmail.com

As soon as I've received enough in donations ($5,000) the website will go up and I'll be able to hire that 1st Field Organizer! Once that goal has been reached and the campaign website goes live, further donations for the campaign will be done via Act Blue.

So I'm asking the Daily Kos community here for seed money to start me on my way.

Like Bernie Sanders, I will not be accepting super-PAC money now or in the future. I'd rather win on donations from real people in the smaller range than end up owing my soul to some faceless corporate donors.

It takes money to win an election in our modern America, and I promise to use the donations you send to me to good use.

I've spent nearly 12 years here at Daily Kos ranting and railing about everything wrong with our political system, but after today, I'm going to be working towards becoming a member of the United States Congress so that instead of ranting here, I can do it from the Floor of the US House of Representatives.

Now she's going to 'rant and rave' on the Floor of the House, instead of on DK! Lol, I like that! Good for her:

I've been Angie in WA State so long now that I think of myself by that name most days. I've been reading and writing here at Daily Kos since October 15, 2003 - nearly 12 years now.

But to run for Congress requires a real world name, so after today, you'll only see me posting as Angela Marx.

You'll see my first Wednesday Connect! Unite! Act! diary posting under that name this coming week.

Most of all, you'll start seeing my campaign updates under that name.

Because I intend to be the next Congresswoman for the 3rd District of the State of Washington starting January 3, 2017.

Can you help me get started on my way to victory?

The current Rep for that District is a Republican and three term member of Congress. According to Angie, as we would expect, with lots of Corporate money.

I've already been told by a State legislator that unless I can raise a cool $1 million that the national Party won't give me the time of day.

But I don't have any plans to raise that kind of campaign money - it's not the kind of campaign I intend to run. I'm going old school, running a ground game at the precinct level.

Her First Campaign Graphic:

Good for her! THIS is how to get the money out of politics. Candidates REFUSING, like Bernie, to take their bribes.

Hopefully Angie Marx, like Bernie, will prove that if you have the right message, if you really are a Representative of the People, you CAN win without Corporate Money.

I will donate a little to her campaign. Not much, but every dollar counts when you are not funded by Wall St.

Good luck Angie! I hope you make it and I hope more candidates are inspired by Bernie to refuse the poisonous money that is corrupting our electoral system! Maybe it will become a trend!

If you want to see that 3rd District, there is a WA map at the link...it's her post on Daily KOS. It would include Vancouver, just across from Portland...maybe as word spreads of her campaign, Progressive Oregonians that are very active, may be able to help her out in that area...just a thought!

Gee, I guess KOS is a HRC supporter since I got a pop up to sign a petition to support HRC for something...no thanks.

But he seems to have become more mellow lately, maybe he changed, or maybe it's just business. When you claim to be a liberal site, it doesn't look good when you treat Liberals worse than you treat Republicans.

There are still some good Liberals there who either stuck it out or left and returned when things calmed down.

too many people believe them.

Hope Angie makes Congress. These are the real roots of democracy.

and are not going to be as easily distracted as they used to be.

According to her diary, she is life long resident of the district she is running in and has a large extended family who she hopes to use to help her in her campaign. They in turn, she says, have many contacts of their own, friends, family etc.

Money will be spent to try to discredit her, but in a way, that is becoming an issue itself thanks to Bernie and we should MAKE IT AN ISSUE.

As he says, he has never run a negative ad in his life, and still managed to get elected by overwhelming majorities.

People are tired of the same old childish games they play. Bernie's amazing popularity is proof of that.

Over and over again you hear people say 'this guy is telling the TRUTH' because to hear someone doing that IS so rare in this country and as such it has now become very valuable.

I'll $upport her as soon as possible - unemployed and ill right now.

Word of advice to donators - maybe you should put your name, occupation, address, age etc. in the comments box on PayPal to help her comply with FEC rules.

Better yet - hope she opens up an ActBlue page - they do that legal sort of stuff for her!

on any social media site you are on, that is worth gold. She won't be spending a lot on ads etc so it will have to be word of mouth.

I hope you will be better soon, and thank you for your comment AND the advice.

She says she will be setting up an ActBlue acct so I may wait until then to donate. I have a feeling she will get the starting money she needs from friends and family, and you are right, she does need to be careful. But she seems to be very smart and has a good support system behind her.

Take care ...

What do you suppose someone has to raise to run for Senate?

And we wonder why we have only limousine "liberals" anymore.

extended family who still live in the area. They all know people there, so it's likely between all of them they can reach the entire district.

I think you do need a lot of volunteers if you don't have a lot of money. Those with money simply pay people.

I am waiting for her to set up her Act Blue acct in order to donate.

If more people did this, little by little it would be a sure loser to take money from Corps.

it will be interesting to see how she does.
