(10,495 posts)If he believes and works this hard, we could at least all do something! I know many here already do a great deal, they get it! Bernie needs A LOT OF PEOPLE, to pull this off. If we can get others to just listen to what Bernie has to say with an open mind. If you question some of what he says, look it up. You will see the truth of what is going on with the power structure of this country. It should scare the hell out of you. We are in for major changes either way depending upon this election.
Most every candidate is on the payroll of Big Business and Special Interests who now run this country. They don't care about us, just fear our numbers, but as long as we don't see behind the curtain and stay divided and fractured, they are not worried. This is Bernie's window and ours. Politicians like Bernie are few and far between, and rarely come with SOLUTIONS to so many issues that restore balance and civility.
The people need to be behind Bernie in large numbers for him to get past the Primary and get elected, plus he will need us behind him to put enough pressure on the other side to force concessions out of these guys. Otherwise, we won't accomplish much except to raise awareness of these issues and still get screwed on them in the end.
Your naive if you think the moneyed interests do not control what these politicians say and do. Many have fought and died for this country, which is collapsing from within. From allowing the legal bribery of our officials, to rating them by how much money they take in. When a person like Bernie comes along we need to take full advantage. It's his message that is the key, but so many haven't heard it! We have to get the word out and pass his message along. I think many Republicans are sick of the money influence too, and may be amenable to vote for Bernie just for this reason.

(28,473 posts)So freaking inspiring to hear a political candidate talk about real issues affecting real people! He ranged from gender wage equity, to reinstating Glass-Steagal, to explaining the TPP (in easy-to-understand language), to the climate denial all around us - going so far in praising Pope's encyclical on climate as to refer to Francis as "a great man of God." Really a remarkable event.

(28,473 posts)I'm standing up about 10 seats in, about equal to the woman in the blue Bernie shirt in the second photo. I have light hair and am wearing a white-ish t-shirt, facing the aisle (to distinguish me from the closer, standing, light-haired woman facing the back of the auditorium).

(180 posts)Does anyone know if Bernie is coming to Chicago? Or Madison, Wisconsin?
I think that the main stream media only thinks Bernie is there to move Hillary to the left and he's not a challenge to her.
They've underestimated the American people, we're tired of two names for political parties, when they're really ONLY ONE party and that's the Corporation Party.
Hillary is going to be surprised when she's NOT nominated. I'd love to see a women president in my like time(ELIZABETH WARREN where are you?), but Hillary isn't it.
I'm tired of the media CHOOSING our candidates for us. They don't give air time, or interviews to those without name recognition or aren't super handsome. They dismiss them as not relevant and we're stuck with who they showcase. Dennis Kucinich would have been a good candidate, but got no coverage as a viable candidate.
This time around I don't think ramming Hillary down our throats will work.

(5,400 posts)Huh, not just a crowd of bright eyed young idealists? To a certain segment of the political world these crowds are more terrifying than a horde of zombies. Zombies don't reliably vote, and talk to their acquaintances (who vote) about the need to upend the status quo.
