(62,276 posts)Sanders totally and completely obliterated him with his answer.
edit: damn it's not in that video I linked, but at the end Bill asked him about TPP and talked about labor protections and Sanders pointed out how zero trade agreements led to a net positive of jobs here and that corporations should be made to make jobs here.

(205,467 posts)I mean, he was extremely generous with Rand Paul, for God's sake. You'd think Bernie would be Maher's ideal candidate. But you're right, Bernie was impressive, as always, and Bill has to admit that. Maybe he was influenced because Ann Coulter was waiting in the wings... I couldn't believe he had her on again, especially now. I tried to ignore her part of the show.

(62,276 posts)It's almost embarrassing to mention her because she really lost it.

(205,467 posts)I really like Joy Reid, was pleased to see that she was there, think she was particularly good, but still hated to have to sit through anything Ann Coulter had to say.

(41,140 posts)program but it's good she still reports there and is on shows like Maher.
When Bernie came on, note the audience applause and how many people stood up. He did a great job, it was a very good interview. Go Bernie!
In the TPP segment that was not included in the video Bernie countered claims Maher brought up about purported increased wages, environmental protections, etc. Not true, the same was said about NAFTA, CAFTA, China and other trade agreements.
IL Rep. Luis Gutierrez who was on the panel, has worked with Bernie for 20+ years in the Congress. Yet recently he said about Bernie, 'what's his name? the socialist, he doesn't like immigrants'. False, especially since Bernie's father was an immigrant from Poland and fled the Holocaust.
Feel the Bern.

(205,467 posts)I spent my summers in Vermont as a kid, went to camp on Lake Champlain. My childhood friend lives in Vermont now, beautiful spot, very rural. She old me that she often goes to Bernie Sanders fundraisers, usually on the lake, and I told her that I'd love to go with her sometime... Think that was in 2012.

(15,480 posts)How incredibly gullible, naive, blind to political realities and/or lacking in worldly experience can someone be who does not recognize that corporate/Wall Street donations/quid pro quos will come home to roost with a profiteering vengeance on any presidential candidate who has accepted tens of millions of dollars from them in a combination of campaign donations, personal payments for speeches to said candidate and spouse, and "gifts" to said candidate's family non-profit organization. Nowhere is this more vital to said corporate interests than in appointments to the Supreme Court.
Here's the script, kiddos!
Corporate input on Supreme Court appointments:
"Here's the deal. Your supreme court nominations can be soft on social issues. We don't give a fuck if gays marry or women can get abortions. Makes no difference to our profiteering. But by god they better leave Citizens United in place and not approve prosecution of war crimes."

(6,829 posts)He really had the talk over every single guest Conservative Republican talking head thing going on. Extremely annoying, rude, and all they got is bullying. He was even scolded by Coulter, repeatedly, for his incessant interruptions and filibustering.
