This one's probably going to get doinked but . . .

Someone used the word "sycophant" to describe Hillary supporters who turn a blind eye to her "gaffs" or justify the most egregious policy stances, behaviors (out-and-out lies) and associations (Kissinger, Cheney, Bushes) but it's deeper than that.

I remember when people in this country used to claim a Hitler could never come to power here in the U.S. Now, I'm not comparing Hillary to Hitler, BUT, the blind devotion is the same. That same glassy-eyed adoration completely ignoring her history, the GLARING warning signs of her foreign policy-for-profit, her war mongering, her disdain for everyday people and so much more. It's a blind loyalty that is reminiscent of dictators past. THAT'S why I cannot support her, under any circumstances.

I don't believe this comparison is especially helpful. Certainly there are people with a blind loyalty or devotion to most any candidate (or many other people along the way) and certainly I find a host of problems with HRC's stances, statements and associations but I don't really find this to be a post that is helpful.

I've served on a few juries for anti-Bernie posts that were ridiculous alerts, but the reciprocal of that is probably about 10-1.

The alert seems to simply prove the OP. Rather than deal with all of the reasons why HRC has maintained a consistently negative favorability rating throughout the primary cycle, their tactic is to try to suppress everything as if it's all just going to go away.

They have sold themselves out to the hypercapitalists.

I see it in business/corporate environment too. The "yes men" and political game players make it and get promoted, the honest hard workers get passed over or pushed out/marginalized.

It is all about the money. If you have values that you place above money you currently fail in the USA.

I am all but certain I will be leaving the USA, post haste, if Bernie is not the Democratic nominee.

This topic is worth discussing. many of her supporters are turning a blind eye, I bet if I looked into their history they would be outrage if somebody else did the same things, but since it is her, they are willing to look the other way. yes, they are letting her get away with lots of stuff, and I bet they will be the first to complain when she does what we all know that she will do.

Then again many on DU are not really liberals or progressives and some are very conservative. I remember some defending President Obama putting SS on the table and as recently as yesterday saw at least one defending the TPP.

Blind loyalty and adoration fit. As well as the pretzel-like contortions to make the shoe fit when Clinton makes a fumble and has to be justified in her newest positions. When you see gushing about her looks (and the carping about Bernie's), the 20 to 30 year out of date pics and avatars? Oh my, if anyone did that in GD ? You know the sexist rain would fall! What you said fits. Perfectly.

I like Bernie ... warts and all. He's real. I don't have to make a soap opera serial out of his trials and tribulations to recognize his policies as fitting my idea of a president.

And for jurors or alerters:

Nothing that is being said here compares to the Clinton camp haven. Just discussing anomalies between the two camps, like discussion boards do.

As in, even if she is the D nominee? You'd rather stay home and let Cruz or Trump win? I'm not saying you're wrong to generally distrust her motives etc, but a quick glance at who her husband selected to the Supreme Court vs who Republicans have selected should be enough to get you to the damn polls.

Comparing Hillary Clinton to Adolf Hitler, even softly, is absurd. As the decades have passed, I think new generations of non-historians now think Hitler was just a generally untrustworthy fellow rather than a genocidal madman. Or perhaps it's also a problem of people not knowing anything else about history? Asked to name two non-American leaders from the 20th century, a typical answer today might be, "Hitler, and... Did I mention Hitler?"

And I was VERY CLEAR in the OP that I WAS NOT COMPARING HITLER TO HILLARY but apparently, in your blind loyalty to the Democratic Party, you missed that part.

I don't owe anything to the Democratic Party, they owe me -- a candidate I can vote for -- but that would be in direct opposition to their mission of turning into the Republican Party of the 1980's. Wait long enough and they'll be praising Trump.

While there are a higher percentage of over-the-top rude and willfully obtuse and ignorant people in the HRC camp, I think they are mostly dealing with other issues. Most of the folks in either camp are fairly nice people. I suspect these mean spirits are unpaid and paid trolls, persons with social and psychological issues that prompt them to pretend they are some other type of person online or others who subsume their own personality in a functioning trance reminiscent of the cult of unrelenting happy people from the movie, Bubble Boy.

Rather than sinister, it is mostly sad that we have too many people who have life situations so devoid of meaning they must find purpose expressing their inarticulate biases here.

I think Hillary's purpose is sinister. I think it's loyalty to Das Party and loyalty to Hillary even though she's such a grossly compromised candidate. They scream "Do you want Trump to be the president?" No, I don't. And if they manage to shove Hillary into the nomination that's exactly what is going to happen. The congnitive dissonance in that type of thinking is just astounding. But then again, blind loyalty requires a suspension of reason.
